Marshawn Lynch had a $10,000,000 cap hit the year the Seahawks won the Super Bowl. Cap was significantly smaller then too. So this is not totally without a successful precedent, though personally I agree it seems like a silly move. Their defense is soft and bad basically all over, and they have pretty mediocre receivers after Davante Adams. Runningback was a luxury item, and now they have to basically go wild in the draft to improve.

But they also werent paying much for a QB. Wilson was on his rookie contract

Jonnu is a freaking beast. Great signing for a team needing playmakers.

He's their top option on the roster right now. He got a career high 65 targets this past season. He should be looking at 90-95 easily with their current roster. When Greg Olsen was in his prime with Cam, he got 108-130 in all his healthy seasons. And we know Belichick has no problem scheming to TEs.
