I've been to all of them. It's a nice city to visit, not reside in. If you're comparing Chicago to whatever shithole IL town or burb most posters live in, then yes, it's far superior. Illinois is an awful state. Chicago is the only city anyone should consider living in if you can't escape IL.

I agreed with you on Sacramento, but that is some stupid shit you just wrote. You call SF and Tahoe close to Sac, but then act like the Chicago suburbs are out of reach. That is some world class bullshit. I'm a way past my prime suburban old ******, and I'm in city all the time enjoying things. I'm an hour train ride from downtown, that's half your time to SF or Tahoe.

You want to lump some downstate hick town like Centralia to suburban Chicago, you've either been here or you are completely full of shit. Please don't embarrass yourself by saying there are no shit holes in and around Sac, and I'll bet they're a hell of a lot closer to you than Tahoe.

Chicago is a great city. You're obviously not going to the right places—restaurants, museums, clubs, galleries, sporting venues, live music. WTF.

Good post. I am surprised at all the posters that are NOT from Chicago, and it makes me wonder about some posters' opinion not living here, even if they did at a young age.

Actually before the draft trading him wouldn't have been so bad. But now? Hell no.

He's trying to rebuild the team from the ground up with a solid foundation that will be designed to complete annually al la the Steelers, Green Bay and most recently the Seahawks.

I for one am tired of the NFC East style of GM'ing and think the way Pace is implementing and sticking to his philosophy is a breath of fresh air. That doesn't mean he won't make mistakes along the way and it might take until our next QB before the Bears get to the SB. Recent history has proven yet again that elite defense trumps elite offense every time.
It's a hell of a lot easier to build an top 5 Defense that will win you games and keep you close in others. Build to the strength of your coaching staff and trust that they will maintain a balanced enough offense that can put up 18 - 21 a game.

So is every other GM in the league, but every time we get a new one people act like he's doing something revolutionary. The Bears don't have the talent on the roster to get picky about their best players approaching 30, IMO. The Marshall, Bennett, Forte, Slauson, moves were just a solution searching for a problem, no different from getting rid of Olsen, Thomas Jones etc etc.

At the end of the day we have less talent after all these moves, and no GM whether it's been Angelo, Emery, or Pace, has ever done anything to inspire confidence that they can replace the players they get rid of.

My original post about living there was a joke as I said. I am certainly NOT qualified to offer up commentary about living there now as I haven't lived there in 20 years.

Why would you trade him? When it comes time to play and if he doesn't, he won't be collecting a paycheck. My bet is he does suit up to play when those fines start coming.

The reason is you would trade him is if you become convinced he will never sign a deal with the Bears.

"Don't worry, there's no way he'll let Forte walk."

"All this talk about trading Bennet is crap. He's under contract."

"Why in the world would Pace ever trade one of the best receivers in the NFL. Marshall is going no where."

"Slausen is arguably the best OL on the team. Biggs is an idiot for suggesting we're trying to trade him."

"Alshon rejecting the Bears offers doesn't mean anything. Neither does him skipping work-outs and Cutlers camp."

i really like Alshon's potential, but as he's a WR, his DNA certainly has a strain of diva in it. Having said that, I hope the Bears leadership will overtake the negative influences AJ has been exposed to - namely from Brandon Marshall. Not to say BM's influence is totally negative, has a good work ethic blah, blah, blah. Just in so far as his butt hurt feelings re the Bears. It's about dealing with diva personalities rather than reality that comes into play. The Bears as a franchise have been reluctant to celebrate/indulge diva personalities, and I for one hope this continues.

Translation .... you ready? ..... come on bro ..... really? .... are you ready ...... Because fans like you don't have any clue of how to build a winning team in the NFL!

When Emery was "building a winning team" by shit-canning the D, I said the same thing.

And common sense tells me that you don't build a winning team by dumping your best players.

Why do you think it does?

Woah, guy...

Settle, guy.

I'll clarify: Chicago sucks so living closer to it doesn't matter.

Example: Living in Joliet is not an upgrade over living in Normal.

Further clarification: CA > IL

Cool. We get it. DOn't like Chi and Il. Point made.

You got your reaction.

This is a football forum...

You're right, but it doesn't mean they have the conviction or commitment to follow through. Or, sadly they can just suck at their job like Emery, Jerry Jones, etc. It doesn't change the philosophy that I would hope we're all on board with. I will have faith in Pace and I expect his results will speak for themselves. If they don't show signs of improvement then I'll be fine with him being escorted out of town.

As for cutting the fat... Its totally understandable. Bears fans love and expect a dominant defense. That shit show they trotted out a couple years ago was sickening to watch. How many times did they make the playoffs in the last 5 years? A strong offense wasn't getting them there and it's not like great QB's are easy to find so just replacing Jay with some other QB and expecting different results is a little short sighted. Like it or not, this is the direction that this team is headed. Back to a dominating defense and a more conservative offense. A conservative offense that won't cost as much. I'm sure the grand plan is to grow both sides of the ball through the draft which will take several years. Putting the strong defense together will happen faster and easier. (And it will pander to the fans who just want their Bear defense back)

What are you talking about potential for? He's shown he can perform at a top level. I'd hardly call BM a negative influence either. Where do you get the diva thing? We've all seen plenty of divas in the NFL and AJ doesn't fit the bill. He certainly hasn't taken to the media to voice any displeasure with the Bears. He didn't get all butt hurt when his QB threw him under the bus as that same QB did when he felt BM threw him under the bus. What do you base this crap on?

Reaction?

I'm answering others. Tell them to stop asking me questions if you're that upset about it.

Start you own thread. It could be one where you cry about guys the Bears have cut.

Do you have any football discussion?

Guy? Are you a South Park Canadian buddy?

You should get your map fixed, who is talking about Normal. I live in DuPage County and hit the city whenever I feel like it. For all we know you live in some dive neighborhood in Sacramento and visit SF and Tahoe never.

Normal :obama:

Funny post. Denver and Miami have all but said he was a negative influence. Nice revisionist history.

As opposed to being figuratively the only offense the Bears have at this point?

Just a helpful tip: "Literally" doesn't mean what you think it means.

well technically, according to the new definitions, "literally" can now be used the way he used it. I know, we are now dumbing down America.
