He probably told the Bears he would only accept the job if he could choose the QB in the draft. Right @bears26 ?
I bet at the very least he demanded to know what Poles was going to do with the pick. Oh, and an asst HC title.

Seems like the Bears went the safest route hear with his experience and his experience in the Mcvay system. Kubiak would have created more excitement, bit this hire is solid and Waldron comes in the door as the most proven OC the Bears have had in a long time.

I am somewhat curious as to why this guy wasn’t considered for the Seattle HC position or maybe he was and they passed on it?

I know. But I feel that happens every year. There’s always a group that hates a coach that’s loud about it. He has a nice resume. I’ll just stay in wait and see mode.
Wait and see mode is fine, but there wasn't many better options.

Of course this turns into Justin Fields. This doesn’t tell us one way or the other in fact I think he probably had an excellent plan for either road. As has been pointed out Armstrong is his agent like Poles and Flus and wait for it Lincoln Riley lol.

Be happy they finally hired someone at a position who has proven experience for once. One step at a time don’t look to far into it.

Okay if you want to come pick a fight with me because I actually said something nice about what the Bears did go right ahead. But I'm not taking the bait.
I'm not picking a fight, just relaying info. That's why I said supposedly. I've heard a couple guys talk about it on either a podcast or through nfl network, can't remember which because it was a couple weeks ago during a bucs/Eagles preview.

I hope Greg Olson comes with him.

I think it’s likely but why? Is he really that good of a coach? He has experience that is for sure.

Yeah thats tough.

A real OC should be confident with either superior athlete they'll have the chance to coach.

Geno was always going to regress though. He struggled in 2022 going against real defenses. He just had to play tougher defenses in 2023. Seattle would be wise to get a QB early in this draft
I'm not calling Geno a world beater or anything, but the dude in Tampa (can't remember his name) supposedly simplified the game for both of them. Don't know if it's true, just thought it was interesting.

As to waldron, I know nothing really about him. My skepticism has more to do with the bears than waldron, and I don't think Seattle had a top flight offense. When he was passing game coordinator with the Rams was when mcvay hated goff lol. It's hard to know exactly how much influence he had with either team considering the HCs.

I'm just ecstatic they didn't hire Kingsbury or Roman.

Supposedly the guy that revitalized geno Smith is the oc in Tampa that just revitalized baker Mayfield. He was the Seattle qb coach last year. Supposedly why geno regressed this season

Go get him too then.

Am sure he did a 2nd interview when they dwindle it down to the final few.

Wonder if Fields was present in the final round? cause in the end game he has to be all in to build chemistry with the new OC. If Fields was present, means the trade is in the works. If bears brass didn't invite Justin to get his take it could only mean . . . hmmmmmm

I love his experience. He was great in Oakland with Carr, he helped Goff break out in LA and he's familiar in working with Waldron and this system. Hell...he helped Josh Freeman look good.

He'd be one of the best QB coaches we ever had. He was just beginning 20 plus years ago when he was here at the same position as QB Coach.

I think the bears absolutely could not take another chance on a playcaller without experience if keeping flus is gonna work

I'm he was asked what he would do with either.

In theory the Bears may not be 100% sure yet....

Not sure their decision has trickled to OC level yet.

He's the oc in Tampa. Doubt he'd take a demotion. Dave canales, just looked up his name. Trying to find something in writing for you guys that gives credit to him for smith.
