I think you can round. It's basically 40%. Plus, Allen has shot well above 40% during his Milwaukee years and notably last year and the previous year. If Gordon does that for the next 10 years, I'll stand corrected.

I'm not saying Hinrich or Salmons replace Gordon by any stretch of the imagination however, most of Gordon's current numbers reflect field goals (2 points), not all three pointers. He would still be threat as Fola mentioned. I agree but primarily because of the floor spacing.

They are more than a little rounding. For his career you can round up but there are 6 seasons he shot more than a couple percentage points under 40%, six seasons is almost half his 14 year career. BG has also hit 10% more threes through his first 5 years while playing about 1300 less minutes.

Hey man, I'm in NY, not far from Connecticut. When Gordon bests Allen, I'll get us both Gordon throw back Husky jerseys straight from the source.

I'm not from CT either, just Chicago. To hear we didn't lose a ray allen/michael redd player really lets management off the hook, because he was that type of player. Whether it takes him 5 yrs or 14 to prove it won't change the loss, that type of shooter is really rare today. Miller is retired, allen will soon, and redd is always injured. I don't think it will be a stretch to say BG will be the undisputed best shooter in a couple of years.

It's totally possible, I'm not questioning that.

I'm from Chicago as well. I was joking about CT and being a big Ben Gordon fan but anyway...

I'm still puzzled on your "keep management accountable" argument. How are fans going to keep them accountable unless we stop watching/attending games and buying merchandise? As the Ben Gordon instance illustrates, all they care about is money so anything short of that is a tiny noise that they'll choose to ignore.

What are you doing (or recommend) to keep management accountable for their personnel decisions?

I was thinking about how our team would be different with Gordon on it. We keep talking about the need for spacing and a solid three point shot. Everyone's answer is Ben Gordon. I checked and realized, he's only hitting 37% from the arc. It's below his career average and on par with Hinrich's career average. I realize Gordon maybe/probably will bring that up but it's worth noting that at moment, we're not worse for the ware.
I don't want this to be construed as a Gordon bash because it's not. For a little less money I'd love his 37%. But let's also not fool ourselves into think that we let Ray Allen go....

You do know that Ben Gordon holds the record for most three pointers made in the first five years of an NBA career, and that he is on pace, to finish along with Reggie Miller and Ray Allen in the top three all time three point shooters in NBA history.

I actually wrote a thread about keeping them accountable. And I haven't ever started any other threads. Boycotting and not watching the team isn't the answer to the problem. Its the cowards way out and I do genuinely like the team. But, I have bought my last tshirt, ticket, beer at the game and other profit generating items till this team gets serious about putting the best product out on the floor ever year. And I will also not hesitate to point out that we could use that type of player.

I'm not questioning our need for a player such as Gordon. Earlier on in this thread I said just that. I wish other fans had your dedication to principle. Maybe Reinsdorf would actually change something for fans then.

Well I appreciate it, unfortunately the uc is becoming just a place to be seen. Its full of corporate boxes and people texting. On an average night, the uc has to be one of the quieter stadiums in the league. There is just so little excitement unless the donuts are racing. I just can't see anything really changing while they can still sell out the stadium no matter what lineup they put out there.

On that note, did anyone else notice them ramping up the fan volume on the WGN game on saturday?

Yeah, it didn't look like people were really into the game but it was loud.

Ben Gordon had 29 points on 62.5 TS% tonight.

Gordon scored 8 points in the final 2 minutes of the game too.

How can a team be stupid enough to let this guy go?

if he keeps it up(which I think he will) he will earn his allstar bid. Its amazing how he is carrying that crap roster to a winning record. If you took him off that team, I would be surprised if they had more than one win.

Yeah, but Charlie Villanueva has been playing well lately as well. He had 60 TS% coming into tonight's game.

Charlie V isn't going to win you more than the occasional game. He should be a sixth man not a starter. The guy is wildly inconsistent.

Charlie Villanueva has some talent though. He struggled early, but has been playing well game after game. I think we have to keep in mind that Vinny Del Negro is not the coach of the Pistons. The Pistons have John Keuster, who is a really good coach, and who knows how to maximize player's potential on offense.

I don't think there is any denying that Charlie V. is having a great season so far. I still don't know exactly what Detroit's long term plan is, even if BG/CV pan out. Ben Wallace is only a short term solution at the center spot, and they're going to want a good defensive center to round out the roster I would think.

None the less, it looks like Detroit is just a good organization, that elevates the way their players are playing. When you have an small/big combo that is scoring as efficiently as Gordon/Villanueva right now, you're going to typically be a pretty good team.

Didn't even know he picked it up that much. I haven't seen a Pistons game since LP preview ended. They don't really get an national interest.

The first really really bad shooting game I've seen from BG. 1/16 tonight for 5 points.

Ouch, I think that's the worst shooting game of Gordon's career. He was even 3-6 from the line.
