I would not just have tunnel vision for Johnson.

They should give serious consideration to:

Liam Coen
Bobby Slowik
Zac Robinson
Kingsbury (yikes!)
Joe Brady
And of course Ben Johnson

Brian Griese would be my wildcard.

I have respect for Vrabel but they can’t do that again.

Definitely have to have backup plans to your backup plans. There could be some other really enticing jobs open as well:

Philly if they're one and done in the playoffs again or don't win their division.
Dallas looks like it'll be open.
Cincy could be another enticing job with Joe Burrow.

Good list, I've been a fan of Joe Brady for a minute.

Disagree with you on Vrabel, he's an elite game manager who knew how to get the most out of his talent and managed his team really well. Think Tomlin and the Harbaughs.

If their offense doesnt collapse like it did in the 2nd halves when he was in Zona then Kingsbury should probably be a leading contender given Caleb is already familiar with him.

I really like Vrabel but I think you need an offensive guy that calls plays so you don’t put Caleb through a blender of offensive coordinators.

there was more than 5% on this board alone, hell I even started a thread asking that very question, feel free to necro it if you want
I don’t care about necroing people. And I’m not talking about this board. Bears fans in general. This board makes up a very slim portion of Bears fans. My god…..

I was overlooking Kingsbury, but all things considered, I feel like he's going to be an extremely hot name for our job. He checks a lot of boxes despite what people may think of him.
  • Experienced HC
  • Having a lot of success with a rookie QB right now... also did with Kyler
  • Knows Caleb
I know people will point out negatives and how his teams taper off, but all I'm saying is his name will be heavily rumored for this job.

Yeah mentioned earlier if the Commanders O doest collapse in 2nd half like a lot of his Zona teams did I would expect him to be a top contender.

Interesting point to be made here—and apologies if this has been prior made—but Johnson’s camp is the one that leaked this. They obviously smell blood in the water with Flus but ain’t no way the McCaskey’s are paying Johnson that kind of money.

Johnson is going to choose a job that allows him to get his second contract. I found this on his agents timeline.

It will have to be an offensive hire.
