Could very well be for the best.
It may be, if the Hawks do t grab Fantilli or Bedard they will still be at the bottom of the league next season and even if they do draft them they will be at the bottom of the league next season. But seeing Toews and Kane can’t make up there mind and Domi and Lafferty are playing well, the defence all of sudden know how to play defence, our pick will be between 5-8 at that point you take your chances on the Russian.

Toews and Kane be damned. Their contracts undercut their return anyway and as much as I wish a return, I have elaborated previously on the passive returns of Kane so if he wants to be a one franchise player God bless him.

That should not protect Domi, Big Johnson if tradable, Stallock, Kurashev, Murphy, Jack Johnson, Mrazek if tradable, McCabe from bringing us future stuffs.

And without them Kane and Toews cannot win games.

If we keep Kane I like keeping Ananathsou, and I like Lafferty for his speed but they can go this year or next year too ...

Oilers emergency backup goalie got put in and made one save on one shot.
Maggie Raptor says that's awesome and she usually just laughs and laughs whenever she sees people skating on ice.

Bedard, Fantilli or bust.

The Russian is even smaller than Bedard.

Hawks need a top four pick and I’m convinced that will happen.

Bedard

Fantilli, Michkov, Carlsson in that order. I really ain’t putting any stock in the Hawks landing Bedard, and I can see them wanting Fantilli more then, you know…a generational guy. The more I hear KD talk, the more I get an arrogant smartest guy in the room vibe from him. I can see both Fantilli and Carlsson higher on their big board then Bedard and Michkov.

Bedard- a better, faster Kane
Michkov- Pavel Bure who can play in his own zone
Fantilli- jack Eichel
Carlsson- A knock off Mats Sundin

That’s what I see right now.

Will Smith shot up draft boards from a top 20 pick to probably the first guy taken after the big four. And the more I watch him the more I like him. Even if the Hawks get shafted in the lottery and get 5, that’s still a top line player.

The Swede defenseman is the wild card. axel Sandin Pellika. His edge work is said to be the best since Makar. I could see a team taking him top five after being rated a late first round pick most of the last two years.

Edwardo Sale, who Button was hyping to be the third best talent in this draft, hopefully goes to another team then the Hawks. Kirby Dach V2.0. No thanks

Zack Benson will be Patrick Sharp in the NHL. His size is a concern currently tho.

There’s so much talent in this draft that KD should be accumulating top 50 picks.

RIP Bobby Hull. Used to watch him play in person when I was little.

Hull was before my time, so I really can't say I have feelings about this news either way. Tony O hit me hard because I met the guy at Midway and he was seriously the nicest dude you could ever meet in person.

Anyways, he scored over 600 goals in the NHL. Makes you wonder where he would have finished had he stayed in the NHL, he might have scored even more than Gretzky ever did, which is just insane to think about.

Once Ovechkin breaks Gretzkys record, I bet money they grandfather WHA stats into the record books officially.

The NHL is a pro- Canadian boys club. There’s no way they allow Ovie to keep the most career goals record.

Everyone good with just doing trade deadlines in and everything else in this thread, seems to be a straight forward catch all.

100%

I haven’t even been watching the Hawks outside of a game or two and have been focusing on the kids we could hopefully draft.

KD needs to take advantage of the deadline and get rid of everyone. Unless some monster trade happens, this thread is good enough.

Yeah why not.

There is a rumor that Carolina is interested in Toews. When Patches went down, I felt like they'd go after Kane. I would not be surprised if either one ended up in a Canes uniform. Kane on the Canes, why not? Much better than him (or Toews) on the Pens or something.

You would think somebody needs defense and face offs from Toews and wouldn’t mind his leadership and cup experience for a run. One of the most decorated players in hockey world history.
I think Toews requires a three team trade with Vancouver where we take some kind of salary back also, but can get his salary down to 2.5 and prorated on the day of deadline to 1 or something.

Kane to Boston is beautiful for the Smith/Hall/Kane line or similar.

Rangers can get him for Laugreneirre no problem and create a top line in hockey with Breadman.

If Kane moves he can shift the power structure in the highest echelons, and that means Boston/Carolina/Toronto/Vegas/Wild…teams that are cup hunting.

Toronto and Minny allow Kaner to stay close to home.

I’ve kinda lost interest in hockey this year and I’d love to have two new teams to follow.

Well….

Rumor mill is saying KD wants a first and either Kakko or Laff for Kane. Even if you get Laff and the Rags late first that’s a haul for the Hawks and the Rangers are still getting the better player.

I can see the Pens being interested in Toews. Even as a third line/faceoffs/late minute guy with Sid you might be able to swindle a first rounder next year out the deal. I don’t even know if the Pens have a first this year.

If KD can pull off four first rounders (Including their own) and Laff, I might take back saying KD is nothing but Blowmans puppet and Stan is still running this team.

I wasn’t a fan of it from the Canucks side. Thought Islanders won this trade. I know my youngest son is pissed cause he is a Canucks fan and has 5 Hovart jerseys and also uses 53 as his hockey number. Trying to explain this trade to my 10 yr old was quite funny.

Well, that first rounder this year is gold. The chances are high that whomever the Nucks draft will be better then Horvat are relatively high. Not knocking Horvat, he’s a solid player and will make a significant impact if he’s with Barzal, but this years draft class is so deep in impact players in the top 50 picks.

Raty is the chain mover. If he can work on his skating, your looking at a pure sniper who can play 200 feet. He was touted as the best player in his draft year for two years then fell on account of the NHL transforming into a skating league, but the talent is there.

Retained Salary

When teams trade a player, they can retain, or keep, some of the players' salary and cap hit. The team keeps a % of both the cap hit and salary for the remainder of the contract.
Therefore, if a Player with a Salary of $2.0M and a Cap Hit/AAV of $3.0M is traded with 20% retention, the trading team would continue to pay 20% of the $2.0M Salary and would continue to have a cap hit of 20% of the $3.0M Cap Hit.
The maximum retention % is 50%.
Teams can only carry a maximum of 3 Retained Salaries at a time.
An individual contract can only have a maximum of 2 teams retaining salary on it.
The maximum amount of retained salary by a team is 15% of the Salary Cap for the current year.
If a team retains salary on a traded player and that player is later sent to the minors, there is no change to the cap hit for the retaining team.
If a team retains salary on a trade, they cannot reacquire that player for one year from the date of the transaction, unless the contract ends prior to one year.
Ask A Question

so here is the big question, the hawks can't do a fire sale on all these guys some on here post they want to see traded depending on the teams they deal with unless they work a lot of 3 way deals. Cause if I'm understanding this right you trade Kaner and Toews with retain salary and you already have Peter Mrazek? anyone know if this is correct.

I remember a lot of hype around Raty before draft, but his stock dropped quick.
