Too damn much. I could understand 2m but 2.75 and for 4 years?! He must have had Stan over a barrel. I shudder at what the RFA's will demand. Hawks will be in up by the cap just signing complimentary players if these ridiculous overpayments keep happening. Chicago is a coveted destination for FA's you say? Then why the hell are no one taking less to be on a contender. Or is it coveted because they know they will get their pockets stuffed with dollar far more than they are worth?

I am not impressed by this signing. Would have thought that getting a long term like this would have brought the price down.

but Rosh it appears every team is over paying. Destination or not. I'd hate to be out in the cold with Holes all over the place than over pay by 500k or so. Most like Mckenzie, Dregger, et all are saying it's a slight over payment but that MOST players are getting that.

Can't slam the Hawk for filling a needed hole IMO. Least I'm going to remain positive.

Not sure I like the term either, I was hoping any defenseman we signed would be more like a 2 year deal.

$2.75 isn't too much money, we have more than enough to poach a center still.

Still need an entire 4th line, Center and 1.5-2 for sharp. Unless you use Kruger then just the 4th line and Sharp.

I think they can trade that contract so the length doesn't bother me.

screw this trade Sharp, all the prospects, and 12 mil what ever we got left and get a proven goalie in the regular season in LOU! and keep Crawford rested for the playoffs! Now thats a winning formula!

As far as him not being top 4 -

10-11 - 19:43gm - Would've been 4th on CHI

09-10 - 17:05gm - Would've been 5th on CHI

08-09 - 16:12gm - Would've been 6th on CHI

I hope he fits the system/what the Hawks want. Probably all 5 on 5 or PK situations. I think 2.75mil is a bit too much for me like.

Not sure I like the dollars or the length the more I look at this...hope I'm wrong.

3rd in defenseman on Sabres last year with 2:04 TOI on the PK. Lead them in blocked shots with 138.

Also consider the Sabres had to play him because they were thin on defense. They had a revolving door on defense, especially the 4-6 spots.

Either way, that is the only year he ever played "top 4 minutes" on any team.

I'm not complaining, just saying anyone expecting him to come in and be a top 4 defenseman is kidding themselves. Filling in every now and then? Maybe, but with a full line-up I expect him where he is suppose to be: 5-6 d-man preferably 12-16 minutes per night, no more than 18 min if needed.

Also another positive about Montador is that he is capable of playing wing if needed to be, not that we would ever really be in that situation but its nice to know that he is versatile. Also lead the Sabres with a plus-16.

I wonder too..if this 2.75mil was slotted for Campoli...and he's asking/wanting the 3-3.5mil range..

And the Hawks are saying good luck/go get that. Sign Montador...let Campoli sit out there for awhile.

Which here, with the less demand for his time, should help his game. Campoli slammed minutes when he got here and all that really did was impress most of us.

With a better team I expect Montadors game to be good. Hope I don't see something else because like I said this could be the best Blue Line in the NHL now.

Seabrook-Keith

Leddy-Hjarlmarsson

Campoli-Montador

That looks pretty good to me. All young, mobile and Three of them can hit.

No complaints from me. Campoli IMO is a top 4 defenseman (typically was #2 or #3 on every team he played on), the fact that he is #5 colors me impressive on our depth there.

Montador may be capable of top 4 minutes from time to time but he won't have to be relied on too much here. I just hope he fits in with the puck movement style of our d-core, he's never really been that type of defenseman, in fact at times he has had trouble in his career. But none-the-less, with limited minutes it shouldn't matter much and hopefully that will translate to success.

I think he's more stay at home.

Which if we look at each pair, you have a puck mover, and a stay at home guy. Each pair is VERY balanced. And in those times where Q wants a stay at home pair he can join Seabrook-Hjarlmarsson as he did this year. Every pair has someone who can move and dangle, along with someone who stays back. It's unreal looking.

Seabrook-Stay at home/Keith puck moving D man

Hjarlmarsson-Stay at home/Leddy puck moving D man

Montador-Stay at home/Campoli puck moving D man

Maybe I haven't paid much attention but I can't remember another NHL teams defense that looked so balanced as that does.

sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

You still think Campoli isn't seeing 2.5?

TWAT!!!

As RK stated...cap ceiling when up....players contracts follow. Cap should never have been adjusted. NHL keeps fucking up raising EVERY SINGLE FUCKING YEAR!!! LEAVE IT ALONE..NHL plays with the Cap more than PMX plays with the jungle gym gang.

2.75 per year for Montador is horrible...but that's the market. Congrats NHL.
