You know who threw a ton of screens, quick slants and ran a 1 read passing offense in college.... Aaron Rodgers.

The NFL was concerned with his ability to adapt after other Cal QBs had failed in more complex systems.

Jeremiah talks about it on his podcast.

Also had a throwing motion that had to be completely altered in order to make NFL passes.

Yes.
It's so big it has its own dick, like the Alien's jaws.

Now that's a big dick!

Seriously, you should promote that veiny, throbbing, triumphant bastard of yours.

Ohhh because you have watched every single one of his games right? And all he does is throw screens, slants and has one read plays? You haven't watched jack shit and by the looks of it, you know jack shit as well. The guy makes NFL caliber throws every single game. Is he a perfect prospect? No, but his upside and what he has shown tells me he can be successful in the NFL just like other mobile, read option QB's have been like Kaep, Cam and Wilson.

But I should expect that from an Ohio State, Michigan State (wtf?), Cubs and soccer fan.

The contract is atrocious, which makes a trade unlikely. He's better than the rookies, so maybe someone is dumb enough. I know what he is at this point. It's not all his fault, but he cashes it in all the time.

I really doubt he's Rodgers. I really don't think their college careers are even very comparable. I don't mind taking him at 7, but I think it's an iffy pick. No way at 2.

Not saying he is going to be Rodgers, but there is similarities as prospects.

And no one thought Rodgers was going to be very good, that is why he fell to 24.

For me there is no difference between taking Mariota at 7 and 2 if Cutler is all it costs to get up.

Cutler and 7 for Mariota, I am interested. Cutler is gone soon anyway no net loss.

RG3 Trade for Mariota, and I am not interested at all.

I just think this year is very different. I'm really not even saying Mariota won't be good. I do think he has to sit a year. I'd be OK at 7, but I don't see him as an immediate contributor.

I really think this is the Titans trying to drive up interest and force teams to come to 2 and not 3 or 4.

I agree it is weird that the Bears were practically giving him away in early March and now he has some sort of value to the Titans.

Why didn't the Titans trade for him last month?

The Bears are not making a Super Bowl push.

They don't have to have immediate contributors, they need guys who will be the best in 2016 and beyond.

Drafting Mariotta at 7 would end up being worse than drafting Shea at 19. Just say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo

I think you do need to think about that at qb, unfortunately Cutler is no mentor and I'm not sure about Clausen. I'm not sure he's relegated himself yet. I can't see drafting Mariota at two if the Titans actually make the trade.

So not quite believing all this but to play the conspiracy card You could look at a few things. Reports say Bears shopping Cutler, Tennessee linked at the time, then everything cools off deniability takes course, could they have made some sort of arrangement that takes place draft day if their guy is still there at number two, add to that getting rid of Marshall which made people scratch their heads, but it would pair their younger receivers with a young QB without the outspoken Marshall that the staff may not have wanted around their young QB. Blah blah blah, most likely not

I think that Marshall was being traded no matter what.

Ummmmm....yes. Mariotta is no better than Fales. Ran a gimmick offense. Has a weak arm and bad accuracy.

I don't want do the trade, but Mariota doesn't have a weak arm and he was a very accurate passer.

Not what I saw on his pro day. You must have watched a different workout than I did. Yeah...he is pretty accurate when his receiver is so wide open he has time to either wait on the ball or come back to it. He is not worth a number 7 pick. Period

ND is horrible.

I totally agree his arm wasn't weak, but "very accurate"....well, I dunno if we can say that if he plays in a prostyle offense with lots of moving parts where he needs to anticipate and lead receivers open, etc.

I wouldn't day he was very accurate on some of the down the field routes I saw him deliver tbh, Accurate enough, sure. I saw receivers held up...receivers having to make normal adjustments to balls....etc. etc. I actually think Jameis, WHEN IN RHYTHM AND THE POCKET IS CLEAN IS VERY ACCURATE DELIVERING the ball....more accurate on the similarly demanding routes than Marcus hands down.
