LOL! No problem man. I watched it on TV too. I couldn't tell what Bickell did once the camera went back to the unconsious player on the ice. So don't know that Bickell didn't continue skating in the direction he was going too when that camera panned back to Smith.

Just proof there are a shit load of things you miss while watching on TV verses actually being at the game.

kind of slams Babcock in there too in the specific mention of the onis being on the player. Babcock basically said it was Ben Smiths fault in his presser.

Well, Bickell came out and said - "I thought he was just tripped...."

Really Bick? Just tripped?

Then went on to say...“When you see stuff like that, even if you just say something to him or get in his face, it shows the team they’re one and done,” Bickell said

Getting in his face sends the message, I guess.

Not usually like you to be this harsh. Could it have been possible he, unlike Bolland, didn't see the hit? Is that possible?

The hit was useless and had me out of my seat for the first time all preseason. 5 game suspension is warranted but really couldn't mean less, the guy wasn't gonna see anytime in the NHL. Concussions always have me wary so I am hoping for full recovery hopefully by November by Smith, we really need his services this year.

When I said I wanted Saad to make the team I definitely didn't want to see his two competitors get injured for extended amounts of time.

AMEN!!! If you let that stream of videos roll, it shows players have been getting suspended all preseason (and for YEARS prior to this as they refer to all the guys who have been suspended before this season.)

What it shows me is that this big government "police by suspension" tactic is not making players they play with respect as before the instigator call. Now they have learned to takk a shot and hide behind the instigator call.

Before the in-stink-ator penalty came in, we used to go all season without seeing hits from behind as disgusting as some of those shown there.

You cannot legislate respect.

(And thanks to the poster of the videos...I am at least impressed that the NHL communicated their opinion so clearly.)

Ok, so this Wang Smith is a pretty good defensive prospect that Detroit will now have a difficult time bringing up (really, how do you do that?). I say Chicago should make a play for aquiring him and see if the NHL allows them to waive the suspension.

I guess maybe he didn't see the play in front of him, you have to take his workd for it...and I'm not violently upset or anything..lol

Just knocking off some of my own rust/getting ready for the season (and not the same way TCD does)

Bickell just annoys me, and I'll do my best to let it go and I'm going to try to avoid commenting on him all year/get it out of my system now. I just don't see what he brings to the table. I wish/hoped he would develop into a power game. I guess/realize its not him. It's sad last year when they needed someone to play around the net in the playoffs - and they opted/tried Scott on the PP...because really, he's better suited than Bickell for that? That would kind of tick me off as a player of his size/stature.

Just doesn't know what he brings? Yes...17g - I get that. For 500K, its pretty good and I'm ok with that salary. But he surprised a lot of goalies I think with his long wrist shots...not sure he will this year. He rarely if ever scores garbage/bang in goal around the net - which he should do (based on size/strength). He has zero speed...isnt' the best along boards...just a very frustrating player to watch.

But...alas...he's a Hawk. I'd be happier with him on the 4th line or in the press box until he shows some urgency in his game.

It's my understanding that Shannahan will be making a video for every questionable hit suspension this year, what I don't think he knows is how many times he's gonna be in front of that camera repeating the SAME, DAMN, SHIT.

I understand your frustration with Bickell, but how can you be frustrated with him and then defend Stalberg so vehemently? Especially when your arguments usually contain #25's numbers, Bickell did play with the better talent a lot of the year but so did Stalberg, and one has better numbers.

This wast he first full time I've sat through a Shanny video regarding these suspensions and I have to say I'm very impressed with them and appreciate this effort of transparency.

I really wish he would wear suspenders in his videos... Of course, TCD wishes he would wear ONLY suspenders in his videos.

He still has some developing to do thats for sure. But in this instance, not being able to see the whole ice -WGN CAMERA WORK SUCKS, I just can't knock him.

Last shot they show him going that way, and if like he said, he didn't see the play, it's understandable.

Maybe this is the year, assuming Bolland is healthy, he breaks out. He finished last season unreal. Commedable at the end of the season when he played with a severed tendon to the LAST possible point before it could jeaprodize his career. Takes balls.

But when called up he has to serve the five game suspension. It just does not disappear because he is sent down to the AHL team (Grand Rapid Griffins).

I was given some additional information since I typed this. Smith (Wings) will sit the remainder of the preseason but he will serve the 5 game suspension immediately while at the AHL level. The AHL commented that they will abide by disciplinary actions handed down by the NHL.
