After watching it in Hd and not on a cellphone. I thik wang smith tried for the shoulder and even without the deke was going to miss so yeah throw book at him

That what I say, throw the book at him...although I do not think his intent was to injure, his intent was to lay a heavy hit. He took the risk in knowing the rules then he must except the punishment!

"you two" is very vague. Who exactly are you referring to? If you're talking about me... well I'd have to be wrong first, to admit I was wrong. When is Haley's comet due again?

I even had to plus that one you fucktard! HAHAHAHAHA!!!

RK, I get the game is different...what I am saying is Bickell has to go berserk and go after the Wing's Smith. First of all it is a pre-season game, secondly it was 15 mins left in game, so he gets a instigator and gets thrown out of that game and no automatic suspension for instigating. And if Shanny did give him supplemental punishment for a couple of games...so what...he's freak'n Bryan Bickell! Guys like Bickell has to understand a couple of games without him will not hurt, you pick your spots and understand where you are in the season and do what has to be done! He has already been called into the office by the coach to pick his game up...what better way to get in good graces with the team! Bickell gets stupid penalties in games any way...he just as well take a penalty that is worth it for the team!

He had two Wangs right on him. Both close enough to ensure he didn't go Bezerk. I'm not sure what part of that you guys don't get. Graham, Peluso, maybe Probert doesn't get there when two guys grab him. Not to mention unless you where there you don't see what happens after the brief shot of him skating towards Wang Smith. They instantly pan to Hawk Smith laying cold on the ice. They dont pan back to the scrum until well after when Bickell is still trying to get at Wang Smith.

So unless you were there, or have ESP to tell me if they both tied Bickell up, you are all guessing. I'm thinking at least three of you adimant on Bickell being a sackless POS weren't there, and have no clue what happened after the Camera pans away.

That said, continue on at least it's interesting conversation.

What you don't understand RK....I do have ESP, even when the camera pan away I have the ability to see the action that was cropped out!

That's just me, I do not know what powers the others posses!

LOL! I don't and thats why watching on TV has it's faults. Again unless anyone was there, watching what the camera wasn't showing, you have no clue what was going on. Last pans shot of Bickell he is going straight towards Wang Smith with Helm and another Wang right on his heels.

Nothing like being at the game because you can always DVR but you can never catch what the camera doesn't show.

PMXC got two points up from me as I was reading this thread. Play the puck, are you kidding? The defender has to take the body on that play. And yes Bickell should have shown.

labrun says 8 games.

3 preseason (rest) and 5 regular season. So since he's going back to the AHL his NHL season is done.

Hack play from a Detoilet turd, Deserves every game. Nice that Shanny is being consistent.

Not only will it hurts this jerks chances of making his NHL debut, it could hurt Detwat should they suffer injuries.

I'm going to go watch the video. (Edit- video won't be out unitl this afternoon).

That's a chunk of change for an AHL salary.

But when called up he has to serve the five game suspension. It just does not disappear because he is sent down to the AHL team (Grand Rapid Griffins).

Sure so if he EVER makes the NHL he'll serve the suspension. Sorry just not that excited at these AHL players getting suspensions that may or may not effect them.

My guess is he gets suspended the rest of preseason and 5 regular season games. Really dirty hit that could definitely warrant more games but Smith doesn't have a history which leads me to believe they wont suspend him more than 5 games.

God I'm good

The kid is suppossed to have some talent and according to some things I have read, he would have been the first call up if they need one this year on D. They don't want him sitting in the press box if Commodore is playing over him. So he will, in the next few years, be playing the blueline for the Wangs. My prediction. He really isn't an career AHLer.

Well he does lose 24k so on an AHL Salary he won't be making that hit again.

With the NHL could force the wings to put him on the roster the first 5 games to ride out the suspension. Or for 5 of the games they play the hawks. But I know that's unrealistic. Of course, as has been mentioned it probably hurts both parties worse that they don't do that. Gives the wings one less call up, and the kid a very minor chance of being called up this year. I think it was a bad hit and very dangerous, but the suspension could essentially kill this kids chance of ever coming up. Pretty harsh in my mind, but not necessarily unwarranted.

Brian Sutherby's twitter comments today. I'm pretty sure this was sarcastically aimed at Ben Smith.

"Practicing my head down toe drag across the middle move today"

Almost seems like a fineable comment.

Sounds like Sutherby should be on the receiving end of the McSorely Maneuver.

Yes, because aging 4th line centers that have bounced around the league are really the voice of reason when it comes to head injuries. He probably feels threatened because he makes his living as a hack and when they take that away he won't have any game left.

There has been more chippyness in this thread than on the ice after the hit.
