Ton if I remember correctly Joey Crabb has been playing for the Wolves and has been on atleast one of there Championship teams. I'm assuming he's going to be playing in Rockford.
Crabb's contract expires on July 1st becoming a UFA. I don't see the team signing him, but I could be wrong.
I dont think much more needs to be done actually With Huet going to get sent down..that gives the Hawks 12 players signed for 47.79mil..or 12 mil cap space.

I could see Reasoner moved and his 1.2mil contract as well, (with Dowell already signed), giving the Hawks 13.2mil to sign/fill up with 9 more players.

Crawford - 800K (backup goalie)

Dowell - 525K (4th line C)

Beach - 1.17

Gives about 10.75 to fill out the rest these 4 should not cost much, 3 - 3.5 combined

Bickell - 625K

Skille - 625K

Hendry - 800K

Boynton - 1mil

Which will leave around 7 - 7.5 mil for these 3

Hjarllmarsson - 2mil

Ladd - 2mil

Niemi - 3mil

I do not think Hjarllmarsson is one to get 3mil yet. No way. Not after the overpaying of Versteeg, Byfuglien, Barker to 3mil while RFA's. I think Nik stays in the same range that Yandle or Boychuk got - 2yr - 3.8 (1.9mil per). I think Niemi doesnt break 3mil as well. It will be interesting to see what Ladd does or what he can get on the market/what he's asking for. It's still very doable to keep the rest of these guys...it still may not happen, but still very able. It's not as "doom and gloom" as every writer has made it out to be, thats for sure.

Kopecky - Toews - Hossa

Beach- Sharp - Kane

Ladd - Bolland - Versteeg

Bickell - Dowell - Skille

Seabrook - Keith

Campbell - Hjarllmarsson

Hendry - Boynton

Niemi

Crawford
Close. But the bonus carryover of at least 1 million needs to come off the top of your calculations.

Is that confirmed as the only team bonus monies attained by Toews/Kane?

according to what I was explained any "other" bonuses obtained were already figured into the Cap last year. Also they did not put any players on LTIR, thus held the Cap and did not have to mess with the bonuses that "potentially" could be obtained.

Also i do not believe either player hit their "A" bonus.

Now that first part goes un said that the ONLY ones knowing the true numbers are the front office. It does no good for all these Cap sites and experts out there too play with numbers they have NO CLUE are correct, other than the specific players salaries. What a waste of time as nothing could be accurate from that stand point.

I believe they have minimal to do now to get under the cap, once HUET is removed. Versteeg will probably still need to be moved for raises that Niemi and Hjarlmarsson are no doubt going to acquire.

Even that's speculation.

Speculation yes. But it makes sense. The 10% cushion kicks in on July 1, the 1st day of free agency. All the Hawks RFA's of relevance can be qualified with the Hawks staying under the 59.4 mil cap. Relevance= Ladd, Niemi, Hjalmarsson, Skille, Bickell, and Hendry.

The risk is to wait after July 1 in order to come to an agreement with Niemi and/or Hjalmarsson and have a team try to poach them with an offer sheet. A $3 million offer sheet that the Hawks don't or can't match will cost the team a 2nd round pick.

Yea I agree. I meant more for the Final Cap number they'll need to be at in Oct.

I would hope to see Hjarlmarsson qualified in the next couple of days as well as Niemi. I'm guessing they could still sign Niemi even though it appears arbitration was requested. Even that was never really said in the open.

Playing guessing games this time of the year without the actual facts pretty much sucks IMO.

I thought I read in the hockey news this week that Niemi's agent requested arbitration already.

See I thought I read somewhere the Hawks requested it. That's exactly what I mean about this time of year, speculation, and rumors.

I think its not a matter of who requested it; it was pretty much assumed Wiz's favorite word in the dictionary was going to take place with Niemi and Scooter. Can't blame the player; has earned the right. A lot of times these types of things get ironed out before it actually reaches the arbitrator.

I am especially sad for Sopel. I just saw them interview him and he said his family was staying in Chicago and that he sees Atlanta as just a pit stop and that he hopes to return to Chicago and is going to retire there.

Doesn't Atlanta own the Wolves?

No. The Wolves own the Wolves. They are an affiliation with the Thrashers only through the affiliation. There is no ownership at all.

I don't think he meant that in the context of playing for the Hawks again.

They love living in the Chicago area, as have many former athletes. Once his playing days are over don't be surprised to see him here in Chicago some how affiliated with the Organization in some fashion.

Yea but I think the days of that word getting you a quick exit out of town have ended. I'm quite sure Wiz still regrets going that route.
