Its amazing how we just won the Cup with these guys, all KEY components in that championship and all of a sudden they totally suck ass and are lucky to make the Atlanta roster. Those three guys combined for 6 game winning goals in the cup run, out of 16 victories.

Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out I guess fellas.

No it's not out of the realm, but I guarantee he doesn't do shit with Atlanta. Now teams actually have to watch him unlike with the Hawks where if they watched Buff then Hossa, Toews, Kane, Sharp, Versteeg, Bolland would light them up.

We just picked up a 1st and 2nd rounder while also getting a stud prospect in Morin. How can we lose?[/quote]

You can't afford losing a bet, so I'll digress.

Yet, he still was somewhat invisible in the regular season. 34 points? Come playoff time 5 GW goals, 16 points? Come on, put your ass on the line every shift and you'll the results. Thats the way I see it. I liked Buff, but for the money he got he woke up when we played Vancouver, 86 games into the season....

Actually NONE of them suck ass, which is why Atlanta is paying a STEEP price tag. Good thing they won the Cup!

Hey I love all the players, I never left the Sopel bandwagon, and Buff and Eager were great, but this trade works out for the better when it comes to the Hawks future.

It's a business. Wasnt the ass shoving of ticket prices enough to show that? These guys are NOT part of the core. That's the way it works in the Salary Cap era.

Atlanta is giving up a bunch.

Check out some Morin vids on youtube.

He's got a great shot and he's not afraid to scrap.

I think Buff was a bit overrated.

RK i was saying we can bet on Buff becoming a superstar.

Sopel is a 6th-7th defensemen.

Eager could probably play on a teams 3rd line but with his concussions he's a ticking time bomb on retirement.

Aliu since being drafted never really "improved". Funny how Atlanta has Akim and Patrice Cormier. If those guys actually hit their potential Atlanta would be nasty to play against.

He most certainly wasn't over rated in the playoffs. If he every figures out how to show up game in and game out you'll eat the shit out of those words Trev.

Very sad to see these guys go, but yes it's the salary cap era so here we are. Like someone else said the thinking side of me knew this was going to happen, but the fan in me was trying to think of ways to keep big Buff.

Great trade for both teams to be honest. The Thrashers yes are giving up some prospects but look at that team, at some point you have to start making moves to getting your team consistently to the playoffs. Draft picks and prospects are just that. That 24th pick can either become Brad Boyes/Alex Steen or it can be Mike Richards, who knows. But look at the drafts at that number and how many years traditionally you have to wait for those players to be 'impact' players. Atlanta as a franchise really needs to step up, but due to finances as well as keeping the fans they've actually still got in the stands.

Anyways, very happy at how we are looking at the end of this cap wise.

No doubt Buff was a total stud in the playoffs and arguably should have won the Smythe. But Atlanta needs a player who can help them in the regular season. Given Buff's history, I don't see him being that guy, especially on a team like Atlanta. What's the point in having a guy who is a beast during the playoffs when he's on a good team with good linemates if you can't put him in that role? BTW, i like Buff the person a lot and really hope he succeeds, but that doesn't factor into my evaluation of the trade.

Something to consider- let's say Buff puts up point totals next season that are in the ballpark that he's had in the last two and Dudley get's a call at the trading deadline. And that call comes from a team in the western conference.

BTW, he's in a contract year. The worst case scenario is a motivated Buff that can't come to terms with Atlanta and is dealt to say the Canucks. You really have not been paying attention if you believe Dudley could not be the ultimate winner in that scenario.

oh yeah, and looking forward to seeing Buff take on teams like Carolina, Florida, Tbay and Washington on a regular basis. If the Thrashers can get into the playoffs, can you imagine him against some of those Eastern Conference teams postseason? crazy thought.
