And what exactly do you base that on?
Having watched both of them play. Jordan was way more fundamentally sound. He was quicker, faster, had a basketball IQ through the roof, and was just an overall better player on both ends of the court. Kobe was never known as a great defender. A good defender, yes, but great, no. Jordan was one of the best perimeter defenders in league history.
He's top 5 all time is scoring and steals, actually Top 3 all time, and that;s having taken two breaks in his career.
Kobe was just never a smart basketball player. He never bothered to find that balance of getting his teammates involved and dominating the game when needed. Jordan did., and that's what makes him in a whole different class than Kobe. Never mind the fact that his FG% for someone who took as many shots as he has is able to be rounded to 50%. For a 2 guard, that's insane!
Kobe has no shot at getting there, because he never met a a bad shot he did like. Did Jordan take some bad shots? Sure. He did take a lot of good shots, hence the high FG%, and that's also with his 3-point% bringing it down, and his Wizards years (which weren't as bad as people make them out to be, given his age and time off).
Jordan was a better attacker of the basket, mid-range shooter, on ball defender, help defender, open court defender, finisher around the rim, shot blocker, passing lane player, I can go on and on.
Kobe is not in Jordan's league. Period. You watched them both, so you know of what I speak. I've watched Jordan since UNC, before I knew he would be a Bull. I watched him in the 84 Olympics in LA, so I've seen enough of him to give that assessment.
