Chelios and Roenick

His agent negotiated the trade with the **** Wings.

Chelli's greasy mitts are all over this one.

His agent got him the deal in Detroit and Chris, reluctantly went to ask Bill personally to send him there. This, after he asked someone else in the organization to do it for him. He said no, and made Cheli do it on his own.

Not really. Other than he had to accept the trade. I do not believe he told his agent to get him a deal in Detroit. I believe his agent did that on his own. As agents are supposed to do.

Never knew that. So he's a coward, too.

You can stop being a total ass any time now Jim. All you do is make yourself look more and more ignorant.

I'm not a huge Cheli supporter but he was most definitely a great player for the organization.

You run around like he beat the shit out of your wife or something. It's pretty dumb.

I happen to encourage his behavior! Sometimes it's fun to see the steam come out your ears like a cartoon character.

Every individual situation is different.

No one yaps like JR. All names combined can't hold a candle.

Other than that, it's a business, and we're all the suckers for being involved in the WWF soap opera.

I think you have a better case selling hate mail on Wiz than any of the cup winners that left due to cap issues.

Well said.

I miss just plain, well played hockey-played by hockey players-when the entertainment was actually the game!

Go Hawks!

Because as I said it was JR's agent that was at fault for him leaving. No question about it. He lied to Bill Wirtz flat out. And that got JR traded.

The only Hate or disdain I have for JR is he could never keep his fucking mouth shut.

Amen! And what a shame! Back in my more innocent days I can honestly say I hadn't felt as bad about a player leaving who epitomized Hawks Hockey since Bobby Hull went to the Jets.

I try to keep those 'innocent' days in mind when I read these threads about the "family" !

Go Hawks!

Yup, had JR kept his mouth shut to the public he might have been given that leeway to get a tad bit more and maybe a more harmonous situation. Unfortunately he was a hot head, and yes did buy too much into his agent, but it was his mouth that was going to lose it for him against Bill. But if he really wanted to stay a 'Hawk....

And that is somewhat the thing that I find interesting about some people's oppinions of the two. Chelios was going to be gone regardless. He knew the writting was on the wall with the 'Hawks and wanted to keep playing. The 'Hawks could have traded him to a far worse place for him as a player. With JR, he did have a major part in his own leaving by making the contract negotiations public, and in a negative way. One guy moves on from an obvious situation, the other moves on from having a hand at ruining their obvious situation. The later is adored over the previous...

Not even his mouth was at fault for Wirtz. JR's agent supposedly lied about a deal the Islanders had offered. Unfortunately he was too dumb to think Wirtz would call the Islanders owner and ask what the deal was. He did, there was no deal, it was a lie, and JR was traded to Phoenix for less than he would have made here.

His mouth problems occurred later in his career.

Biscuit, it has everything to do with Cheli ending up in a Red Wings uni. Because you know, Detroit sucks and all that stupidity.

Not so much for me. It's a bunch of different circumstances compiled up. I have never denied what an awesome player he was in any of his three NHL sweaters.

So did JR ever find out what his agent did and fire him because of it?

I'd say for 99% of the meatheads it is.

I'm sure there's lots of things I don't know, but I try to limit my famndom to what they do on the ice. Otherwise I'd never cheer the wife beater.

Well I chose not to boo last night. I did how ever turn by back on him, which is what I feel he did to the fans in Chicago.

I have never asked JR that question but I'm sure he did. I'm also sure he was told.

Similar what do you think Niemi did to Zito? Zito clearly fucked him.

And since you bring it up I have ZERO respect for the wife beater. None. Different time but if a player did today, what the wife beater did back then, they'd NOT be playing and 95% positive they'd be in jail or convicted of a crime. I had heard stories of Bill many times rushing to get there before the CPD arrived.

JR was spouting off to the media his demands for the team and how he was going to pack it up and leave during the time of the negotiations with the 'Hawks. Sure his agent had part of it, but once JR got public with it we all know what Bill's thoughts would be on a guy who now appears to be not so loyal. Regardless of what the agent told Bill, and by lying Bill could just use that as leverage, the public part of it was going to be JR's undoing.

Yup, and for 90%+, that is the sole reason. Which is also why I like to throw Roenick into the mix with what people think\feel about the players (except for those with that extra info).

The other interesting thing is that Probert was cheered when he was at Stevie Y's shindig in Detroit....now why would the Detriot fans cheer a reckless drug addict and achoholic who left Deroit and signed with Chicago? And only played 74 more games with Detroit than the "rival" Chicago. Again, just majority fan perception of the player.

Fun fact, Chelios played 86 fewer regular season games with Detroit than he did with Chicago

JR did switch agents, but I think it was towards the end of his time in PHX....if I remember correctly.

Here is my two cents worth: Simply put, it is too soon to honor Chelios.

As for JR, here is my problem with him. Yeah it was touching how he cried on national TV the night the present day Hawks won it all. As I remember it, the guy could not get out of Chicago fast enough. "Trade me...trade me now. What? You wont do that? OW oh OW my ankle hurts, it is this lagging injury I have.....wait, some one is here to see me play because they are interested in trading for me??? Oh, shit, I'm in coach, put me in?" That is how I remember JR. I loved the guy up unitl then, but now, I take everything he says with a huge grain of salt.
