I miss thug ball. nba is too soft today...players whining every other play about not getting foul calls

Thing is, the Pistons had to play this style to beat teams with more talent.

While Rodman still played a physical game as a Bull, Phil Jackson put a leash on him.

I guess they didn't have Excedrin back in 1990 during game 7 of the ECF's for Scottie. :p

I guess my favorite team to watch was the Junk Yard Dog team with Jordan, Harper, Pippin, Grant going hard full court on defense. Defensively, the, absolutely killed the opponents with four interchangeable defensive athletes creating havoc. I always thought that Harper never got the credit he deserved on those great Bulls teams. The later teams with Rodman was probably the better team but I loved that earlier team a bit more.

Does anyone know where to see some game footage from that Sloan, Van Lier, Bob Love, etc era? I've only seen bits and pieces of their play, but I'd really like to see some full games to get the full appreciation of what those players did. Being a youngin it's hard to truly appreciate things you only hear about.

I don't know if you can find any footage but as a guy who witnessed those teams, all I can say is that Jerry Sloan was a great Bulls player. No player ever set tougher picks and was harder nosed than Sloan. I even remember Sloan when he played for the Purple Aces of Evansville, Ind. What a great team that was. IT was too bad that they never got to play against the Cassie Russell, Michigan teams which won the NCAA in those years.

Sloan had to match up with Jerry West and Oscar and other more high profile guards of his day but never backed down and battled them to standstills quite a bit. That was a very good Bulls team but before NBA expansion, they just didn't have enough to win against the power houses in other cities.

I already posted some complete games with them in it from 71 and 75

I don't think there would be any problem with spacing with that lineup at all. Teams would have to double MJ all the time anyways. Heck, the Pistons would triple team him. I'd actually take a young Ron Harper rather than Butler if I could.

I probably would also. I'd also have to put Jerry Sloan in the all time best defensive list. He didn't wind up with that nose by not playing defense:)

Ha the Tyson Chandler/Eddy Curry twin towers experiment. So much hype for so little results. Curry did have a few decent years, but was never really the dominant force he should've been. Perhaps if he didn't get so fat...lol. Chandler ended up being a darn good player in his own right, just not in a Bulls uniform.

I thought one of Krause's worst mistakes was getting rid of Jamal Crawford. Crawford was a truly gifted(and still is) offensive player, especially off of the bench.

From what I saw in the 75 footage, Sloan flopped a lot lol. Not saying that to take away from him as a player...he was clearly very very good, but I just found that funny comparing to the flops we see today. Clearly a very hard nosed competitor and one of the best players to put on a Bulls uniform. Those 70s teams I think were maybe one star and one more solid bench player away from being a real title competitor. It seems like they just got overmatched by a team like Milwaukee who had two HOF players to rely on. That Bulls team had a great starting lineup, but no one really of that caliber. They were kind of like the 2004 Pistons in a way, but without that degree of success.

after 5 years i have finally beat all the Jordan challenges in 2k11 lol

i actually got one more left (the last dance) but i had already beat that one prior however the save got cleared for whatever reason.....hardest ones were Double Nickel and The Shrug

The Shrug you had to keep Drexler under 20 points and i think he finished with 17 lol....i had locked him down in the first half i believe he had 2 points but he blew up in the 2nd half

Double Nickel they decreased Jordan attributes by allot so the usual moves i did to score weren't working...i think i started off 0-5...you gotta keep his shooting % above 55 i think i finished at 57%

Hawk doesn't like GarPax?

I do not believe that Paxson has done a good enough job in adding enough back court help for the Bulls team. This season is a perfect example. They have an over-all mediocre back court. OF the 6 guys who play guard, Butler and a surprising Brooks were the only two guys who have played well and are reliable.

Not really. He was traded to the Knicks in a sign and trade because Reinsdorf didnt feel like he was worth the money. Reinsdorf negotiated contracts in those days.

The Knicks gave him a hefty salary too 7 years 56 million. He played very selfishly for the Knicks during those years, was traded for Al Harrington, then was traded to Atlanta the following year for Acie Law and Speedy Claxton. Spent the last years of his 7 year deal in Atlanta playing that 6 man role (And the Bulls beat them in 2011), signed a 2 year deal with Portland, opted out the second year though.. then signed with LAC where he has been made relevant again.

So, not much of a mistake on when you really didn't miss anything for 7 years of that contract. People only miss him now because he's shooting good as a 6th man on the Clippers.

I've played that game on the Wii, XBox360, and now the PS3 and the hardest challenges are the Father's Day game because you have to get I think 9 or 10 rebounds, the Lakers series, and possibly the Flu Game.

We'll just have to disagree on this one then. The guy has been and is instant offense and the Bulls could have used his talents off of the bench certainly. I also feel the same about Kyle Korver which was another bad move by Paxson.

You do bring up a good point about Reinsdorf. My blame of Paxson possibly should be laid upon Reinsdorf. It very well could be that Paxson isn't the real asshole who failed to build enough support for this team but rather Reiny's failure to spend a bit more money over the years.

But since I don't like Paxson and his bullshit treatment of Thibs, I'll just continue to lay the blame on him since I do not know about the pursestrings of the Bulls.

Yes but you completely change the structure of the team from 2003-2011 if he had stayed on the team. You unravel the time line and the Bulls don't end up with certain guys. Chemistry wise, Crawford struggled to fit in with any team until getting to the Clippers, so you also have that. He was one of those ME FIRST guys for the longest time. Those kind of guys have never stuck around with Paxson at the helm. If the Bulls had given him that max deal, they would have likely traded him before the end of his contract anyways. They wouldn't have gotten much for him anyways. Crawford is one of those let the past be bygones stories.

But you're right, we'll just have to disagree on that one.

lakers series wasn't that hard it was just lengthy because you had to play the whole series

i didn't even guard magic i just backed off and let him shoot/made sure he couldn't feed it inside

just beat the last dance and getting 4 steals was quite hard

We got rid of Crawford in 2004 after we drafted Ben Gordon right?
