Nope. If it improves the club long-term I'd trade everything.

So you don't think Castro is a building block and part of the long term? He is the type of player that you hope all these prospects you trade for turn out to be.

You don't trade for the sake of trading. But if something has the potential to be better than Castro and is available, it should be considered.

Castro showing the power potential so many scouts thought he'd eventually have. That's 7 this year... pace of about 14. This to go with 7 triples. However, he's slipping in doubles. He's on a pace for 20 2B this year, and he's managed 31 and 36 in his previous two years.

Maybe, if he hadn't been a lazy bum... his production might be better? I also think you're wrong here. Sure, there would still be people after him due to his lack of production.... but look at how many jackasses fell in love with Theriot, Campana, Fontenot.... all because they put up the effort that Soriano, ARam, DLee were not. If Soriano actually looked like he was trying to put up the production (stupidly) expected of him due to the contract... I think he wouldn't be nearly as hated as he is now.

Everything that has ever been said is that the guy puts in the work. The "dozens" of times that he didn't hustle resulted in at most a few bases lost over the course of the past five seasons. And seriously unless the guy was the 40-40 guy every year people were going to be pissed off because he was paid to be that guy. Yes Cubs fans love their gritty, grindy white guys but lets not pretend that peoples opinion of players isn't heavily shaped by the money they are paid.

He is just going to have to go on a 2 bag a day binge in the second half.

Probably because he refuses to stop at 2B on homers and triples :D

Depends on what you get back for him. The same with Shark. Even the great Rizzo. Of course, I'd say that trading any of those three would cost a team their the farm at this point.

With a rebuilding team... there is no such thing as untouchable in my opinion. Though, some guys are going to be next to impossible to meet a price for.

LOL... I think the doubles will pick up... always looked at him as a 15-20 HR, 7-10 3B, 35-40 2B kind of guy. This year, he's only lacking in the doubles... and I think those will probably come by the end of the season.

Wonder if that's just a BABIP issue, in that he's getting the hits but they're not going into the gaps or corners so that he can snag the extra base.

Lost velocity. Plus sometimes players just fall off a cliff.

Lincecum's stuff has been declining for the past couple of years. His body with the way he pitched wasn't sustainable. The Giants look like geniuses for not signing him to a huge extension in the offseason

It's a damn shame too. Timmy was a bad ass. Hopefully he can get something fixed.

Considering he's getting paid that much money, better hope so

was talking to my dad while you guy posting about trading

For Castro to be traded it would have to the biggest overpay of MLB history. How many 22 y/o 2 time all stars have there been traded in MLB? im going to say 0
