I guess I'm confused as to why everyone thinks we are going to go on an all out rebuild for next year? I highly doubt Hendry is just going standpat and let the young kids develop while his job is on the line. I'm not saying we are going to go on a spending spree but I also think we are going to spend a little bit of money this offseason.

I also don't think they will just let the kids out to dry, but i do think they will make several signings but not long term, but "stop gap" signings, such as Orlando Hudson or a Lance Berkman. Types like these I think the Cubs will target to sign this off-season to go along with the kids we have.

berkman would make some sense. especially if you can get him cheap/ if he could do what he used to with the astros then it would be a steal. no one is going to give him 15 million

Those are the type of moves I expect as well but I don't think those are the type of moves teams would make if they are rebuilding like some in here suggest.

which would be another appease the homer fans move.

Yeah, which is why I figured it would happen.

But, since they didn't sign Sandberg I think it is now unlikely.

I honestly thought back in August that they would get Sandberg and get Wood and just try to use that to keep the fans happy through 2011.

Na, JH makes his own dumb decisions and he makes no one happy. He was a Quade guy from the start and that did not change. If Sandberg was manager, more tickets will sell.

Because we should. And everyone hates Hendry for little reason. He's given us more winning seasons than anybody else has in a long time.

Now there are three spots open on the 40 man roster....

The Cubs outrighted Jeff Gray to Triple A.

About a week or so, the Cubs outrighted Bobby Scales and Blake Parker to Triple A.

I will have to disagree with you. The combination of a real bad division and alot of money spent=the few playoff runs he has made. basically you can give credit to the cubs old ownership for letting him spend alot of money. and even with that money spent the back to back years of division titles the team went 3 and out.

Scales is a FA.

So now we judge GMs on 6 games? Because we both know that he had a lot of factoring into those 6 games.

ok ok ok you got me! damn, he is a good GM...minus horrible contracts that have the cubs in a bind for the next few years.......but hey! he got aramis ramirez for next to nothing.

do the cubs have any faults, you never critique your own team ever. USC needs to make you a homer award.

Good, Gray sucks.

He was always highly touted and looked good in spring training. I know, after camp broke and Cubs returned to Chicago, several reporters said the Cubs expect him to play a key role in the bullpen, but injuries really ruined his year. I wouldn't truly write him off just yet, i mean, he'll never be a star, but i still believe he can have some kind of impact as a reliever.

Yeah, we have a lot of faults. We have a crappy front office, behind Hendry, and we have some aging contracts.

God Forbid, I think positively.

What horrible contracts are these? Soriano? The same Soriano that got 2 extra years thrown on from the Trib? Z? The same Z that has never had an ERA over 4?
