So obviously you don't know what hypocrisy means. A product of "No child left behind" huh?

Agree with most of what's been posted here, however, I do blame Q - big time - for letting the puck go off Leddy's back in the OT of game 7 in the Conference finals last year. Otherwise, we'd being going for a possible 4th Cup in 6 years.

Can you ask Pez if he'll grab lunch HHM, Gus and I to hash things out?

I have to give you credit. You continue to forgive Pez despite him treating you like shit. If I were in your position I would have told him to **** off years ago.

I'll say this about Q I dont know how he pulls it out of his ass. He is one of the most frustrating coaches but yet you cant argue with his results.

I don't think the PP is a direct result of Q as I believe he has Dineen run the PP as Kitchen runs the PK. He's got more important things to worry about and like most coaches he delegates the special teams to his assistants.

I think Q gets shit on when they lose, but never gets the respect he deserves. You don't win 2 Stanley cups (and a possible 3rd) for just being an okay coach.

People also ***** about his lack of using younger players, but Mike Babcock, the highest paid and someone considered as the best coach in the NHL, plays the same vets game after game and slowly increased his youngsters roles over the course of the season.

Hell Teuvo started the playoffs either scratched or on the 4th line and he's now playing decent minutes on the 3rd line. Saad and Shaw got the same treatment. Pirri refused to commit to defense and since he wasn't spectacular in the other facets of his game, Q didn't want him on the ice. Unless you're Ovechkin or Kane, you need to play defense, especially as a center in today's NHL.

People who ***** about Q not using rookies or young players dont know their assholes from their mouths. We have ran down the list of rookies and young players Q has given time to on the ice and off the ice and who he have given the vote of confidence too. There is a team full of them right now from Crawford, Hammer, Kruger, Saad, Shaw and everyone inbetween on the team now or who have left the team due to nothing more than cap issues like Leddy. All these guys straight out of Europe or juniors or the AHL to the Hawks. You win your spots you aren't given them.

Thanks, Trev, for steering this thread back on course from the shit show it had become.

I get your point about the assistant coaches operating the special teams, but ultimately it is the head coach that hires those two guys and, therefore, it's ultimately the head coach's fault if either of those special teams units fails to perform.

For all the bitching about the power play in the last few years, it actually hasn't been ranked that low consistently (as BHP pointed out to me in a recent thread). That PK, though? Always excellent. And I'll take a good penalty kill over a good power play.

Yes Diden runs the PP but it's been around league average or waiving slightly away from it since 2010-11 under Q no matter who the several different assistants have been running it. It hasn't been consistently strong since Haviland was running it and they did more back door passing, down low setting up than the more umbrella approach they use these days. Under a brief period of Kitchen running it, Jamie Kompon, or Dineen it has been generally the same

Yeah and technically during the in game moments, Kitchen is running the defensive line shifts and D but it's still a impressive task to see them rotating the D to keep everyone mixed around and prevent any real badly exposed 3rd pairing on the ice.

Kane and Ovi aren't even the best examples because they generally these days now do play Defense, under Adam Oates though Ovi was told to not exert himself defensively. It's not simply Q won't play young players, he wont play young defensively irresponsible player. There is often still bias in peoples judgement on that because of their preferences. As there were people directly complaining last postseason about Nordstrom playing over Morin and throwing out the young players not getting played claimed, and I don't think they even understood the foolishness of those statements.
