Are you saying that it's just a fluke that certain organizations have had pretty consistent success? Like Pittsburgh, Philly, Baltimore, Green Bay, Kansas City, Seattle and so on? What else would it be other than good ownership? Pure luck? Ownership is the one that decides on the GM and is often signing off on big moves or head coaches and so on.

Conversely, you can easily say that organizations like the Jags, Jets, Raiders and Browns have some terrible ownership, just like us. Success (or failure) starts at the top. The hope is that if the Lions can buck the trend then so can we.
Yes. That's exactly what I'm saying. It's all luck. And the luck comes much more from getting the HC hire correct than anything else.

In Pittsburgh, they got their coach right. Now they're an interesting case because their fans are sick of Tomlin, and have been for quite some time and the Rooney's won't fire him and Pitt fans blame their owners for not axing Tomlin.

Kansas City, got their coach right. But before Andy, was anyone saying great things about the Hunts and how they did things when they had top 10 picks for 5 out of six seasons before Andy and Mahomes? Baltimore, got the coach right. Seattle hasn't had success in a bit, and we'll see what they do but they got Carroll right at the time.

Was anyone saying positive anything about the Fords before Dan Campbell? Remember all the mocking we did as a collective about Dan Campbell? Got the coach right, and the QB right. Was it bad ownership that fired Nagy after complied a winning record as a coach? Bad ownership fired Salah. Is it going to be a great move to fire Antonio Pierce after one season in Oakland?

Just throwing all of this out there. I think ownership gets far too much credit and blame. They don't matter.

I am getting a Brian Daboll from a few years ago , deja vu feeling all over again with Ben Johnson .
I see what you're feeling but i still believe in Daboll and just think the Giants have been going through it because of the D.Jones situation and injuries especially to that OL. I don't think it would of even mattered that much for them this year if they did bring Saquan back. They found what looks to be a good one with Tyrone Tracy anyway and he's obviously much cheaper. They absolutely have to find a QB and not a retread in free agency but they need to find one in the draft. Can't do shit in this league without a QB.

Not this first one.
Here are the interview parameters
  • Teams can hold in-person or virtual interviews with candidates not employed by an NFL team (i.e., Mike Vrabel, Jon Gruden, or Pete Carroll).
  • Teams conducting interviews to fill their open head coaching, general manager, or coordinator vacancies must hold in-person interviews with at least two minority candidates (persons of color and/or women).
  • On January 6th, teams with an open head coaching position can start requesting interviews from other teams.
  • Candidates from non-playoff teams may start the interview process with interested teams on Day 3 once their season has concluded.
  • Virtual interviews for candidates still in the playoffs must not exceed three hours.
  • In-person interviews must be conducted in the candidate’s home-team city or agreed-upon location from their current team.
  • For candidates with a first-round bye, virtual interviews can start three days after their final regular season game (January 8th or 9th) and can continue until the conclusion of the Wild Card round.
  • Interviews with candidates from playoff teams that play on Wild Card weekend can be conducted virtually through the conclusion of the divisional round (January 19th).
  • On January 20th, teams can conduct in-person interviews with candidates who have been eliminated from postseason contention.
  • For Super Bowl Teams: Interviewing teams are permitted to hold second in-person or virtual interviews with candidates between January 27th and February 2nd. Teams may not conduct an initial interview during this time.
  • On February 10th, in-person interviews with Super Bowl team candidates may resume.

Mike Vrabel and others were you butt thruster.
Vrabel has only interviewed for the Jets job and only 3 days ago. Drama queen about something else, nancy.

Vrabel only became available recently. He was working for Cleveland until two weeks ago. Complaining that the Bears didn't interview him as soon as they canned Flus is not warranted as it wasn't a possibility.

We've had a suggestion they should have interviewed coaches "even if not interested in them" in order to "get a jump on other teams".
We've had complaining they didn't start soon enough at 8am the day after the season ended.
We're getting complaints about the only candidates they're considering based on what is on Twitter.

We've had several posts explaining the Rooney Rule and several more subsequent posts asking about it.

Buckle up, boys. It's going to be a long month.
