Vrabel only became available recently. He was working for Cleveland until two weeks ago. Complaining that the Bears didn't interview him as soon as they canned Flus is not warranted as it wasn't a possibility.

We've had a suggestion they should have interviewed coaches "even if not interested in them" in order to "get a jump on other teams".
We've had complaining they didn't start soon enough at 8am the day after the season ended.
We're getting complaints about the only candidates they're considering based on what is on Twitter.

We've had several posts explaining the Rooney Rule and several more subsequent posts asking about it.

Buckle up, boys. It's going to be a long month.
Vrable was working as a consultant, I am not sure the same rules apply to consultants as they do to assistant coaches.

Brad Biggs had a great article this morning about the hiring process for Andy Reed in 1999.

He was a virtually unknown and they based their search on the attributes the best coaches have like Parcells, Gibbs etc.

Attention to detail, great talent evaluators.

BJ is obsessed with details I think that’s a really good sign. The best coaches speak in specifics not generalities.

I’m surprised the Jets haven’t requested to interview Cunningham. He fallen off that bad? Only going to be one GM spot open this year?

Isn't Douglas an Eagles guy? Basically the same values.

But I’m told that feelings between the Jags and Johnson are warmer than the feelings between the Bears and Johnson, and that Johnson wishes the Bears would be as accommodating to him as the Jags have been!?!

I guess we will find out but keeping Baalke there doesn't scream warm feelings.

Keep in mind some of this could be from the agent in order to jack up the price of a contract.

Unfortunately all the bad going on with the Bears is probably going to hurt his chances at a GM job as well. I hope not because we sure could use an extra 3rd round pick in the next two drafts.

The Patriots requested an interview with Johnson. I’d say they are the top competition. As long as the Bears can land Johnson or Vrabel I’m happy, both have pros and cons, but are a clear cut above the other options in my opinion.
