I’m going to throw a different point of view here going back to Trestman and Bruce Arians

McCarthy is Arians and BJ is Trestman.

BJ is an amazing play caller but we really don’t know what kind of coach he will be.

McCarthy is proven and even with a backup QB his offense did fairly well. He could easily bring us to the playoffs get Caleb to play well and after 3-4 straight playoff appearances ( which would be amazing) we ditch him for the guy.

Do we have a coach yet?

I’ll hang up and listen.

FCS to NFL HC? Even the Bears couldn't be this stupid. Maybe the Bears are just trying to do him a solid, but announcing it minutes after the Lions loss is so on point for the Bears.
Not what I said at all. But continue.....

I still don't understand how Eddie George is such a trigger for yall.

For me I wouldn’t call it a trigger. I just view it as a pointless interview for the Bears HC search. It’s different if they brought him in to interview him as a positional coach. And that only makes sense if your top candidates wanted George as a positional coach.

I'm surprised there are no signs of life from Dallas on this one. Did he tell them no already or are they just not interested?

For as much as we shit on the McCaskeys, I think Jerry Jones is seen as a worse owner at this point, because he is also the GM.

Ok now do Matt Campbell, Drew Petzing, Adam Stenavich and Mike Kafka?

Which of those are you claiming are ready to be Head Coaches and why?

So just strange you are singling out George and not the white coaches above.
The way i remember it, without going back earlier into this thread and checking, was when all those names came up everyone was shocked that they were interviewing them all and didn't want any of them so can you show me where anyone was good with even interviewing any of those guys let alone hiring them? Thanks

As much as I want to argue - it's actually a pretty good analogy.

Ben Johnson has to look at his schedule over the next few days? Is this guy serious he thinks he is God’s gift to coaching. Just do your interviews or make a decision.

Announcing an in-person interview with a guy who realistically has no shot at getting the job and that satisfies the Rooney Rule right after Ben Johnson unexpectedly becomes available seems like a clownshow move to me.

I have no problem with them interviewing George, within the context of this very large search. But it's the timing of it, and the idea that they had two months to do this and waited until this time to do so makes them seem woefully unprepared.

Does it matter?

Look we don't know what Eddie George knows, if anything.

But if Kafka warrants an interview why not Eddie?

And it's not D2. FCS has never been D2.
I don't think anyone on here said Kafka warranted a interview though. Maybe i'm wrong and you can show me where someone did but i don't remember it?

Every NFL team does this.

No one thinks the teams are clownshows for this - they think the rule itself is a clownshow and needs to somehow be overhauled.

Seeing how Kliff was talking about his time in Washington... he's sounding a lot like Ben Johnson last season when he decided to stay in Detroit.

I don't blame him if he did decide to stay for another year. If they are this good right now with a rookie Jayden.... and they have over 100 million to play with this off-season? They could easily be one of the more dominant teams in the NFL for the next 3-4 years.

Why not ride that for a bit before jumping ship?

Monken is Arians if you think about it. Both old coaches with brash personalities who have never had their shot.

Jerry doesn't deal with HCs who don't have any HC experience or don't have a previous relationship with his org. The Dallas beat guys basically said there's no chance or Johnson there.

Kellen Moore if I had to guess.
