What I'm saying is what I wrote:

I have no problem with them interviewing George, within the context of this very large search. But it's the timing of it, and the idea that they had two months to do this and waited until this time to do so makes them seem woefully unprepared.

I think you can figure out that "within the context of this very large search" should answer your question.
You already have YOUR answer in the replies on the thread.

This is the bears. Of course they would wait until the season ended when they actually could've started after firing Flus.

What difference does it make? All it means is that their 1st choice was not yet available so no hurry.

They waited until the Lions season ended, not until their season ended, like they did with all the other candidates they interviewed.

To me, it makes them look unprepared, because they did have to hurry when the Lions unexpectedly lost. In the grand scheme of things, I can't say what it means. No one can.

No, your reply that you think I missed makes my point.

You are suggesting quite clearly that they are only interviewing George to satisfy the Rooney Rule and that he cant possibly be a legit candidate. And you're basing that on a college record that doesn't lok good enough to you because you ignore that he turned around a terrible program.

I am not campaigning for hiring Eddie George. I don't know enough about his coaching. I am simply stating that publicly stating it is only to satisfy RR is completely speculative and dismissive of the candidate itself.

He's coached for 4 years at a small college program and is barely above .500, he's not a serious candidate unless the Bears coaching search has gone completely off the rails. Which, if that's the case, is all the more reason to hire a new GM who knows what they're doing.

And we expected them to do better?

Again, others, not you, made a fuss about the who's.

Again, how long has this organization been ill prepared?

Ummmmmmmmmmm.....................NO.

Well NFL clubs disagree with you. I’m talking about resumes as well I’m not saying I want the Bears to hire him. Lumping him in with Eddie George is bs.

I also don’t want the Bears to hire a guy because of his offensive or defensive ranking in 2024. I want the best leader and I’m not in the interview room.

Lafluer ran the 30th ranked offense when he was hired by the Packers. It’s turned out great but could you imagine the reaction here if we did that?

The obviously scheduled the interview before the Lions loss or it wouldn't have happened on Sunday. The earliest the could see Johnson again is today and that would be pushing it. One has zero effect on the other.

The Bear may be less than stellar at things but this doesn't show it nor has any effect on a hire.

look @satchice has weirdly blown a gasket over this interview, but it isn't the same as Kafka, Campbell,Petzig or Stanavich. Two are OC's who cant be hired away from other teams other than for HC and one is a Power 5 HC, George is a Tenn ST with a 24-22 record.

Has EG been on the Bears radar in some capacity for awhile- allegedly

Were the Bears Poles/Warren complete morons to not be Rooney Rule compliant before this round of the playoffs- 100% yes

Did they once again create bad optics by self inflicting wounds announcing the EG interview minutes after the Lions loss- Bears
The topic though was serious candidates and none of those guys are serious candidates. So you are left arguing who is more unserious which is just splitting hairs. The point is if you are going to cry about coaches with no real shot at the job being interviewed then do so for all of them not just the black guy.

The Raiders werent Rooney Rule compliant until Friday. Bears on Sunday so this is much ado about nothing.

Did they announce it or did Jay Glazer leak it? 2 different things no?

Assuming they get a second interview with Johnson, that can be the icebreaker, "Man, we didn't think you'd shit the bed quite that fast up there in Detroit".

What you said above is different than interviewing someone like Eddie George for the HC position. There is absolutely no chance he gets the job. Therefore an absolutely pointless interview.
But it isnt pointless if they are using the HC interview to assess his abilities for another job or future possibilities or to just see if he has any great ideas about how to run the Bears.

Your statement was for them to just let the HC make the call and the point is the Bears have interviewed people before in advance of the main decision maker and also interviewed people before for one job and then hired them for another.

Eddie seems very intelligent. I doubt he'd take this interview if it wasnt in some way beneficial to him.

There are people who probably never even knew he was coaching now, maybe he can leverage his name out in the press for another better college coaching gig?

Chicago media is really trying to hype up Monken. They likely were asked to do this as it’s just coming out of nowhere. Media (real media) will do this to get access later.

If I was betting today I’d say they are going to hire Monken.

Defense and jared goff

yep, Lions outgained Washington. It was those 4 INTs that made the difference. I know people were saying that WR pass was a bad call, but Goff head already thrown 2 INTs. I think he wanted to try that trick play because Goff was having issues there.

The way i remember it, without going back earlier into this thread and checking, was when all those names came up everyone was shocked that they were interviewing them all and didn't want any of them so can you show me where anyone was good with even interviewing any of those guys let alone hiring them? Thanks
Show me where any of them was talked about as much as George?

I don't think it's out of nowhere. A couple weeks ago there was talk about how much they internally liked Monken. It's just been growing from there.

Personally I think BJ and Monken are 1A/1B. MM should be the backup plan if something doesn't work out right with either of the top two.

What Chicago media? Is it sports talk radio? I ask because I'm not really seeing anything at all on the internet, yet anyway.
