My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears

This dude's dentist said he's not going anywhere, gotta schedule an appointment with mine to get his opinion but he lives in Wheaton so dunno if he has a clue.

As stupid as this whole thing sounds, it also is the most realistic - Apparently Fraley wants to call plays, and it doesn't look like teams see him like that. His best shot is with all the departures from Detroit and the existing relationship there, be the guy loyal to Dan Campbell and ask for a promotion to OC in return, since Ben is gone.

This might be how it ends up going down.

Well considering Farley is interviewing for OC jobs, it doesn’t seem like the Lions are in a hurry to promote him.

Johnson said he haven't interviewed the 'old' coaching staff, so it remain to be seen who he will retain..

As long as Dennis Allen is coming, I am not concerned with offensive coordinator at all. Ben Johnson, Dennis Allen and a bunch of position coaches is all you really need. Also, with so many games going down to the last minute, and so many teams looking so stupid in those last 2 minutes, I would invest in a Time Management Analyst.

Edit: oops, also and special teams, a Bears staple, when they are good

if you asked me to pick Hank Fraley out of a lineup two weeks ago I don’t think I would have been able to do it. I would like the hire because oline needs everything it can get and it hopefully further weakened the best team in the division. I’m sure Johnson can find the coaches he needs on that side of the ball regardless.

It’s defense and special teams coaches we need strong hires here. He needs experience and people he can fully trust to run these groups.

They also get 2 3rds for the Bears hiring Johnson because he’s a beta apparently
Incorrect. It is two 3rds for minorities. Non-minority Beta HCs only get one 3rd because they arent Alpha enough to demand a second one.

Next best thing to the Bears getting Fraley as a non playcalling OC/OL coach is him staying as the new playcaller game planner for the Lions.

Thomas Brown is not staying here.

You can't have the guy who used to be in charge now not be in charge but still hanging arou---Oh wait, it's the Bears. Never mind.

It would be fine.
He was promoted two massive jumps in a month.

OC would be a surprise promotion for him at the start of 2024.

So yeah, he can probably be a QB coach for an opening somewhere after a year off, or go to college, or be an intern OC for the Bears if they want to show the players they at least have some loyalty and integrity.

Things as they are, fragile ego's wanting a blank slate...I get you and they probably take no chances of a leadership divide.

From what I can see Brown may be a better leader than Johnson or Allen, right now we are a nerd staff.

As OC you spend 100% of your time on offense. As a HC calling plays you probably only have 50% of your time available for the OC so you need someone at OC you trust understands your vision and who can build out a gameplan as otherwise Ben will be spread too thin.

Even if you have seasoned guys like Allen and Rizzi you still devote far more time as a HC sitting in on meetings with the D and Special teams than you ever did as OC. And you still have to be involved enough to build relationships with the defensive guys as otherwise they will feel like you are a glorified OC and not a HC. Not to mention all the other stuff HC entails ie scouting on both sides of the ball, game management, logistics, etc.

Not sure I would rely on fans opinion on this as how would they know? Of course the question is how comfortable does Campbell feel about him calling plays and Campbell still needs to follow the Rooney Rule process before hiring anyone.

Even with an internal promotion? I read he would actually stay there as oline coach vs coming here as oc. Probably so he can’t be blocked for a future oc job that allows playcalling.

They probably would know better and be in the know than any honks on a Chicago Bears message board…

  • Clubs must interview at least two minorities and/or women for all coordinator positions.
  • Clubs must interview a least one diverse candidate for the QB coach position or any senior level executive position at the club.
As far as I am aware.

If getting blocked is an issue you can easily stipulate in his contract that you will allpw him to interview for any OC job that comes with playcalling.

How? Does Fraley do playcalling sessions with fans for then to judge him?

Reality is that it is just media speculation unless it comes from the Lions directly and we know how you feel about media speculation right?
