He coached with Ben Johnson in 21 and 22 so more likely he is a legit candidate even if Allen is the No 1 choice. You cant assume Allen comes here until its done.

I think people assume that in order to call offensive plays, they have to start as a QB coach and that an OL coach calling plays would be unorthodox. Just my guess.

Ben Johnson and Sean McVay spent most of their careers as TE and WR coach before being OCs. Mike McDaniel was RBs and WRs. Andy Reid was an OL coach.

Not really. Oline coach is usually 2nd in command and many consider it the most important position coach.
Gotta start calling plays at some point, everyone has game 1.

Doubtful. He really needs an experienced coach for defense who has had HC experience but at least DC experience. If he was a CEO type coach it wouldn’t be as important but especially for the first couple years he has to have someone he can trust to fullyrun that side of the ball.
