Allegedly, Ben Johnson is who Warren wants. And is willing to break the bank for him. Supposedly, its not going to be about money, but whether Ben feels like Poles can convince him that Poles has learned from his mistakes, and if not, whether Warren can convince the McCaskeys that they will have Ben if they let go of Poles.

I would also not be surprised if Ben gets some say (maybe even final say) in the personnel decisions if he comes here. Just my speculation, but while the expectation is Poles will be extended to match whichever coach comes in, do not be surprised, especially if Johnson is given some personnel power over player procurement, if Poles is NOT extended. There are a pair of assistant GMs waiting in the wings, both in Detroit (Agnew) and I think it was the Rams? either way, there's been a couple of names attached to Ben Johnson.

If they can't push Poles out now, I'd speculate they would ride the pine with him until his contract is up and then go after one of the guys Ben really wants - so Bears, but the McCaskeys are likely always gonna McCaskey.

I don't see Poles getting extended to match Johnson. There are rumors that Johnson wants a long contract to boot. I couldn't see Poles getting a 6 year deal on top of the 1 year he has left.

I'm kind of curious why Ben Johnson would want the CHI job so much. The rumors of him wanting it last year as well. I kind of don't get it.

Agreed.

Honestly with only one year left, I could see them making it work for a year but Ben Johnson has final say. Then they go get Agnew or whoever else the following year.

I think the McCaskey's are really averse to paying both a GM and a head coach to stay home.

That's why I kind of laugh when everyone pokes fun at me for some of the observations I make on the team when they want to be doomers.

Coaches don't look at things the same way fans do.

I can see why Ben wants the team.

The only advice I can give is when you're consuming sports content and you are listening to someone who has played before or has coached before or has been a GM before, try to listen and pay attention to how they see the game and what they look for.

After years of doing that, and also prioritizing those who were better at their job and those opinions over those who may have not been so good, You start to get a better feel of what they're looking at.

Not like it makes you equipped to go out and coach a game or be a scout, but it does come in handy with understanding what's going on during a play and what a coach might be looking at or what a GM might be looking at.

I don't think Ben Johnson is as down on Caleb Williams as some meatball fans are. I think he's looking at things and feels like all he has to do is get the offensive line right and install his system and the Bears are off to the races.

I don’t know at all if Ben Johnson wants anything to do with the shitshow, and if he does I have severe doubts about his intelligence. But even if he does not want the job he would pretty wise to act like he wants it as much as possible to drive up his price elsewhere.

It’s lying season boys. Has been for a long time.

LMAO are you giving me advice or some sage wisdom. STFU dude lol

BJ supposedly wanted the job before CW was here, so that's not the point I'm trying to make.

And coaches are people just like everyone else, who want/need jobs. The way it sounds like he wants the CHI job sounds like he has ties to CHI, but I don't think he does. Anyway, I wasn't being a "doomer", I was sincerely curious what his draw to CHI is.

Today the path to the Bears losing ten plus games in 2025 is becoming clearer and more direct by the hour.
It look like your old crystal ball is malfunctioning, it's time for new one. LOL

My guess is the same for anyone who takes the Bears job. They are going to an organization with a lot of history and want to be the person who turns it around (Become a hero). Maybe he sees Williams, Moore, Odunze and Kmet as key pieces for the offense.

Beside that the front office and owners are trash.
