Both are great players, but Getzlaf is more of a load given his size & strength.

And I think the Hawks have plenty of fast, quick guys. Wouldn't mind a big body that can actually do something with the puck.

The stats prove that Stastny is a better player than Getz? That's a pile of shit. The stats don't prove that. The stats that you pick out might, but not the overall stats. Getz is over a PPG player in 4 out of 5 seasons while Stastny is a PPG player in 1 out of 5 seasons.

Toss in the fact that Getzlaf is better overall...he blows Stastny away.

You talked about how a player is trending in terms of injury and what not. Getzlaf isn't injury prone and he is showing it this season.

PPG PS: 11,3,7,9,4,5=39 406 GP
PPG RG: 10,11,4,9,8,7,4=53 490 GP

Try again.

you have yet to find a stat that proves otherwise. "the fact that getzlaf is better overall"

I think he does. Toss in the fact that Ott is signed for another 2 years. Ott can play anywhere from line 1 - 3 and is great at the dots. If the Blackhawks were to get an Ott and get bounced in round 2, who cares? He would be here for another 2 years.

Every single team could use a player like Ott. Every team. He helps a lot by putting up some decent points on the board but in so many other ways he helps the team win.

Also knowing that he probably doesnt help this year to get us to the cup, you wait until the offseason to trade for him if you have a hard on for him. Stan will get fleeced in a deal right now for him, his value is much higher coming to the deadline than the offseason. That is fact, so why give up more for a guy that may help you get through a round or so?

Personally I would go with Stastny -Stastny is reliable defensibly and has been able to put up the points.

Otoh, considering the past few pages were basically made up of a discussion about some unsubstantiated blog "rumour" ... frankly who cares- the Hawks are going to reacquire Sami Pahlson .... yeh that's my own anonymous blog rumour for the day.

I keep thinking about him and or a player like him being our "big" move. I cant seem to think we are going to go big, so i think stan will go home.

What are those numbers even referring to?

I wouldn't mind souray if he is a rental. His shot from the point could help with the power play

Icehog brought up Dustin Brown...and what a fit he would be. Is currently playing right wing but has played some left wing, so I wouldn't be concerned about that one bit. Brown would look great in the top 6 and a friendly cap hit of 3.175M for the next 2 years.

BobMcKenzie had this to say on his twitter...

Just to be clear, is LA captain Dustin Brown in play? As in being shopped? Yes, absolutely. But that doesn't mean he's guaranteed to move.

LAK will decide based on quality of offers. But given considerable interest from multiple teams, decent chance he moves. #TradeCentre #tsn

Would probably mean the Hawks would be out on a 2C but I have always been a huge fan of Brown.
