JJ at HB is saying that the Blackhawks are officially out on Nash.

Supposedly he narrowed down the teams he would play for and the Blackhawks were not on the list of 5.

Im guessing Nash will go to.. Vancouver, LA or NY with Van being able to throw out the best possible package by a mile.

I have a new name to toss out...

Vokoun.

Capitals have played Neuvirth for about 20 games and even brought up Holtby the other night.

Capitals are fighting for a playoff spot but who knows, Vokoun could be an option if they feel Neuvirth/Holtby will be good enough if they fill some other holes they have.

Kinda a long shot considering Neuvirth has sucked this year and they are in the playoff race...but figured I would toss it out there because anything the Caps did wouldn't surprise me.

Better off without him.

Great contract and the Hawks wanted him in 2010... nice call.

Have to imagine it would be for Emery.

Agreed.

I wonder which of the goalies has more trade value right now. Emery has looked better than Crawford (which isn't saying much), but Craw is also younger and doesn't have a major surgery in his history.

Hard to say because each goalie has different type of trade value here.

Emery is a vet who has been to the Stanley Cup and is a UFA after this year.
Crawford is younger and is signed for multiple years after this one.

The only issue with LA/Van is that they are so close to the cap that they would have to work to squeeze him in this year at his prorated cap hit. Just imagine what would happen this offseason with those teams.

This could definitely get interesting and I think a dark horse team might have a better chance at Nash than one of the current "front runners".

Saw a Bruins fan post this trade idea on HB to see if Hawks fans would approve of it

Hawks send: Craw and Sharp

Bruins send: Rask and Krejci

idk what reason Boston would have to do this though...

That would be unbelievably dumb for the Bruins.

The Bruins will trade Thomas before they trade Rask. Rask is probably the best "back up" in the NHL. If he was on 20 or so other teams he would probably be the starter.

Yea...because that would help the Blackhawks defensive woes. Buff would help with the physicality and power play...but he is just god awful defensively. Lazy and gets beat 1 on 1 regularly. Not to mention his cap hit.

Those fans should probably think it through...

EK has the Blackhawks possibly linked to Zidlicky...which I hope is untrue.

I don't understand why everyone is so desperate to make a trade right now to instantly turn this team into a Cup contender. It's not like this is an aging squad with the window closing.

Would I like to see the Hawks better this season? Of course. But let's not mortgage a very bright future just to make the team "competitive" in one season. There are a lot of years left with this group. No reason to trade Toews/Sharp/Kane/Keith/Seabrook. Build around those guys.
