A few time intervals of 1000 milliseconds each.

If you can count milliseconds real time, maybe you should play baseball because that means you can slow time down and actually find a good pitch to crank out of the yard.

I agree fans are going to have to be even if they dont want to like me :shot: . I also think then Cubs need to lower ticket prices. If they going to rebuild they cant expect fans to pay 2nd highest avg ticket in baseball.
When buying a ticket to Wrigley, I believe your paying for the experience moreso than the game. :dunno:

Still waiting for the differences in rosters according to D3A we went from amazing to suckish. But I don't remember any massive moves that caused that. Which would mean it's not Ricketts fault.

I think he's upset that the Cubs didn't actually continue to pump money into the MLB team after Ricketts took over despite the fact that it would have been an extremely expensive fix when the owner was still reeling after a billion dollar purchase that included a shit-ton of debt servicing necessitated by the Tribune's terms vis-a-vis the sale.

I just like to seen Cubs act like a big market team and have around 150 mil payroll. Theo brass going to take 4-6 yrs to build up farm through draft. So instead of watching shitty team paying high ass prices of tickets, i rather seen them throw some money into the MLB payroll for the next 1-5 yrs while building up farm. Again that is just my opinion.

Okay, so let's say that this year is a wash and they've already lost out on Fielder, Pujols etc. Look at next year's list. Who do you think will actually be available, and who do you think will provide more production for $8MM or more a year than our in-house scrubs at league minimum? It's fine and dandy to say "SPEND SPEND SPEND" but who are you supposed to spend on, keeping in mind that despite all the rumors, many of the guys about to hit free agency are likely to be extended by their parent club?

What's your plan?

Because if you think they can actually be better by spending the money, you have to explain why and how. Otherwise you're just blowing smoke.

Bitching poster(d3a) is bitching just to *****.

So d3a is basically saying that he has no idea who to spend on but wants us to spend anyway just to look like a big market team and he feels that just spending, despite the fact that there isn't anybody good to spend on next offseason, will make us contenders? :lmao:

I'm disappointed that d3a still hasn't given us his brilliant plan. So let's open it up to everyone. Opening post below:

:yep::obama: I am still waiting for his offseason. I really wanna know what all that money would have gotten us. And you all argue among yourselves of course. :dealwithit:

D3A's opinion of how the team should be run
how he would have handled the offseason
difference between 08 09 and 10 rosters
where 60% of rebuilding teams fail comes from
Why HE CAPITALIZES EVERYTHING
Why he thinks Ricketts isn't a half decent owner
I'll think of others

links being used
2012 MLB Free Agents (MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com)
Chicago Cubs | Cot's Baseball Contracts
Potential Free Agents for 2013 | Cot's Baseball Contracts

Using the links provided by the opening post (and Google), plus the following:

2013 MLB Free Agents: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com
2014 MLB Free Agents: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

How would you construct a winner by spending money in 2013 and 2014? How likely is it that the good players on that list who aren't too old will be available and not actually extended by their parent club?

It should be a fun exercise :D Can't wait to hear your brilliant plans.

2013: Cantu/Take a run at Grienke?
2014: Alex Gordon or Adam Jones or Jacoby Ellsbury(Hope one of these guys isn't reupped)

Not enough there to be a contender though.

At this point I hope we can develop our own Ellsbury, Pedroia and Lester :crazydance:

The main obstacle as you've alluded to is that all of those guys (save Cantu who I think is sort of meh) can be extended by their parent club, so there's always got to be a contingency plan. If something awesome falls into their lap, then I think they'll go for it, but the plan to build should be independent of which free agents will actually be available.

sign one of Cain, Greinke, or Hamels if they all reup then theres no pitching to bother with in 2013 nothing worth looking at outside of Cano who will be reuped.
2014
Josh Johnson, Jurrgens, Lannan, or Hughs. nobody in field thats worth it outside of Asdruble Cabrera, Adam Jones, and Ellsbury. And we don't need outfielders really...

so within the next 2 years of freeagency we could get between 0-2 good starters, and basically no bats under the age of 32 who are worth much...

Indeed, a problem with free agency. Plus the Cubs have to still build up the farm to get enough assets to try to trade for something worthwhile. So I hope this explains to certain folks why spending out the wazoo probably won't help much.
