Thing is, they wait to see what Cards and Brewers do.. They could end up with none of the 3
Say Yankees want Darvish, Brewers sign Cobb , Cards sign Jake
What left?
If theyre waiting to see who bends first, they might come out of it empty handed..
Then what ?
Oh well... guess we just wait and see how it all unfolds, i just hope the cubs don't end up on short end of this

You're listing a lot of false assumptions there. The Yankees cannot afford to sign Darvish, or any other FA starter, the Cardinals have a solid rotation and probably still need another bat not to mention a closer so they're almost certainly out and while Milwaukee probably will sign a starter they'll wait the market out as their aren't enough suitors for the four impact (or semi-impact) starters on the market. Minnesota is probably going to sign a guy, if it isn't Darvish it will likely be Cobb or Lynn. Texas could still move on Darvish but you'd have to call that unlikely given payroll constraints. Houston would love Darvish but probably wouldn't be able to make it work financially given the Verlander contract. The Angels are probably in on Arrieta but you'd have to figure the price would have to get down to $100 mil or so before that makes any sense to them. Washington has been said to be in on Arrieta but that sounds like Boras pushing a market with a team he has a strong relationship to more than real interest. The Cubs are smart to wait this market out. Of the teams looking at at starters they're the most attractive destination because of the market and the fact that they're in the middle of a contention window and discount the fact thatno one, including Jake, is going to sign elsewhere without checking in. My guess is, unless Darvish falls in love with Minnesota, that he signs in Chicago and it happens by mid month at the latest. I think that will push the Twins into signing their second choice, likely Lance Lynn, and leave Cobb and Arrieta scrambling. I've said from the beginning that I think Arrieta signs with Philadelphia and nothing has cropped up to change my mind on that, and if that leaves Cobb Atlanta would make some sense along with Milwaukee but certainly not at the money he's been seeking. Also don't forget that their are starters on the trade market as well and I would not be shocked if two of Archer, Odorizzi and Fulmer are moved.
