I really like the attitude the kids have. Just bust your ass and let the results work themselves out.
Which is why im excited to see these kids come up cause they seem to feed off each other success rather then resent it.

These kids all seem to have the right attitude of just play hard and win games for the team sake.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
Manny Ramirez, signed to be a player-coach, has added to the spice of the Cubs' Triple-A stew. Both Baez and Bryant said Ramirez has often been the first player to the clubhouse and the last to leave the batting cage.

"Once I get to the field we go straight to the cage and hit and hit and hit,'' Baez said. "He's always doing something. He likes to hit a lot. He likes to talk to other guys. He likes to work.''

The lessons start shortly after lunch.

"We get to the field 12:30, 1 and around 1:30 we are in the cage working on something,'' Baez said. "He's just trying to help on what we're doing in each at-bat. He talks to everybody. He's just one of the guys on the team, that's how he is. He's trying to help everybody.''
I am not surprised by these positive comments regarding Manny.

While Baez has remained at shortstop, he takes ground balls regularly at second base in anticipation of a possible position change. After all, Starlin Castro appears to have secured his spot at Wrigley Field with an All-Star season.

Baez said he doesn't worry about the glut of shortstops or even a possible trade.

"Not really,'' Baez said, when asked if the addition of Russell impacted him. "I'm just doing my own thing. I'm sure they have plans for us. … We all understand this is a business. Whatever happens is going to happen. We're ready for it.''
No mention of taking GB at 3B.

I think Bryant has shown the Cubs he can stick there. I also think Baez would rather stay up the middle. Whether that is short or second or even Center.

At this rate I expect him to play in the AFL and potentially start in AA similar to Bryant.

Na soler will be on the club by next year. He runs out of options in 2016. The cubs would have dfa. He is already on the 40 man roster and people think he will be on the team in September and come up after may

Soler:
2014: 2.67 mi'
2015: 2.67 mil
2016: 3.67 mil
2017: 3.67 mil
2018: 4.67 mil
2019: 4.67 mil

He has a opt out clause for arb. If they held him in AAA next year then started his clock late in 2016 he would hit arb 1 in 2020 with his opt out he still would go to arb1.
IDK he seems pretty close but I think he needs another year in the tank to prove he is durable to play a full year. That is in question now.

Definitely. He will be in Iowa for maybe the full year next year unless he is absolutely raking all year. Baez had noted that there is a huge difference between AA and AAA as far as pitching goes and that mainly you get fastballs in AA, where as AAA, they exploit your weaknesses with breaking balls, change-ups and such.

AAA more closely resembles professional level, and therefore, he will need to see plenty of action in Iowa and prove that he can handle and also recognize the different pitches and locations before a promotion is ever considered.

Its different because he signed. Because he signed half way through the year, he was left with another year of options. If he doesnt make the team next year, the Cubs would have to DFA him in 2016 which I guarantee is not going to happen.

Soler can handle it better. Baez problem is he swings for the fences no matter the count. He has gotten better as the year goes on, but Soler is much more discplined. He has great knowledge of the zone but has a better 2 strike contact rate. Soler has light tower power, but will not always swing for it. He is a very advanced batter. Its simply that he has to stay healthy. I read this summer that he looks like a bigger, faster Puig and after watching video I dont disagree. He has an incredible build. He looks 30 pounds heavier then what he is but in a very good way. I pray for his health because as much as I love Baez this guy could be just as special with lower risk.

And like I hit it with Alcantara, I also predict that Soler will be a damn good player.

The Cubs are going to be brutal in the very near future. If Russell starts to progress, the media won't stop talking about this teams talent.

This also furthers why I would trade Castro to get another arm on the team.

Trade him why he has the most value.

They are going to need an ace this off season.

Lester still has not been signed and they should give him top $$$.

You put Lester, Arrieta, Wood, Jackson then Hendricks.

Trading Castro is not going to net a TOR. They are going to have to spend to get one.

But that's just it. He doesn't have the most value. He has probably 4-6 years until he is in his prime. It's ridiculous to think that a 24 year old is at the height of his value.

Soler still has a ways to go and needs to stay healthy, the jury is still out on him.

Also, your logic makes no sense. You say that we're going to be brutal in the very near future, so you would trade Castro to get an arm? That's not going to change us being brutal. Let the media talk about the teams talent. Why is that a bad thing?

I'd rather keep the player that has three all stars at the age of 24. How many other players/former players had been to three all star games before they turned 25?
