Bears have committed to the run. That’s all it took to get the ground game going adapting the scheme to the players strengths. This is what Nagy has avoided for 3 years.

Isn't it frustrating when facts get in the way?

Legit the only RB's with more yards after contact per attempt than him are....no one.

The only RB's with more Broken tackles than him are the guy we played today(Dalvin Cook).

People blame our inept scheme on the players too often. Its hilarious.

Doesn't take a football genius to realize that a RB needs a hole to run through in order to get momentum so he can...you know...break tackles.

Swear to god some people on here expect him to be the second coming of jim brown and just bulldoze people over at the line of scrimmage on every play.

Jordan Howard was 2nd in the NFL in rushing yards after his first 2 seasons in the league, and now he's out of football. Montgomery's entire body of work has been a mixed bag in his career. I'd like to see him have this kind of game against quality NFL defenses first before anointing him as a great player.

Montgomery has been riding a hot streak as of late, but my opinion on him hasn't really changed all that much. I think he's still somewhere in that replacement-level category as a RB, maybe slightly above. He's always been better than he's shown up until recently, because of the garbage OL, but he's nowhere near the upper echelon of RB's in the league.
I thought the same until this recent string of games. He’s really playing good football.

Montgomery is a much better receiver out of the backfield than Jordan Howard.

I dont think is fair. The Bears were certainly committed to the run but until a few weeks ago "the run" was basically Montgomery running into a brick wall for no gain.

I think Montgomery was hampered by the O-Line's struggles with injury and bad play last year and most of this year.

How much of his improvement is him getting used to the NFL game? How much is it because the O-Line got better? How much is simply facing the "right" teams?

Dunno. But he does warrant a longer look for now, and maybe another infusion of O-Line talent will finish the job.

Monty is a good back who can continue to get better. His yards after contact is impressive and hes a tough dude to bring down. He was dealt a shitty hand this season with bad o line and poor play calling. I think he will be a top 10 or better if the bears get a better oline or just goes to a better team. Monty has 8 games so far this season where he has carried the ball less than 15 times, how can you be successful like that? The avg for a starter is more like 17-20 and Monty has only 1 game this season with 20 or more attempts. Cook has 4 games with under 20 carries and everything else is in the 25per game range. Monty is probably the last player on this offense that people should be complaining about.

So many lazy RB's like Monty.

They should crop out Cook fro this photo. He has like half a season more rushing yards than the other 3.

It's like putting Aaron Rodgers in the same category as the greats like Brady and Manning and Brees. Rodgers is simply lower tier than those 3.

Rodgers is a first ballot HoF lock.

I dont know how you can make any sort of case that Brees is better than Rodgers. The other two I can sort of understand (though personally I dont agree with it), but Brees? Really?

Per capita, Brees has more passing yards than Rodgers and by the time Rodgers retires, it will still be that way. So that is how I make my case.

The same people on this board would have literally shit all over Walter Payton. Especially when he was literally the entire offense some years.

There’s people who live and function within the confines of reality, and then there’s those who’s entire reality is formed by their perception of the world they see through the internet.

I think we can all agree that as soon as I made the Montgomery thread, it quite obviously ignited a mediocre fire into a top 10 RB sort of fire.
Now if he could just maintain this newfound greatness, the Bears would be much better off as a team.
If anything, some on this board should be thanking me.
You're welcome.

Monty is showing that he is a very solid back now that we have a real playcaller and Lazor is starting to put his fingerprint on this offense.

No, he isn't a guy that is going to take a 90 yard screen play to the house. Only a few backs in the league can. That isn't the only measure of a RB nor is it the most important.

Cook also has 98 more rushing attempts than Monty. Extrapolating David's number of carries to match Cook's nets:
Cook 1,480 yards
Monty 1,375 yards
Recieving yards is a dead heat.
