exactly. houston=bushrod and young=slauson if you want to compare the way emery is dealing with the line on the other side of the ball this offseason. hopefully we can get the DT equivelant of kyle long in the draft.

Emery definitely seems to see the weaknesses are go hard at attacking them with multiple signing/picks. He's done this multiple times since he's been here:
Yr 1: WR (Marshall/Jeffery), Yr 2: OL (Mills/Slauson/Bushrod/Long) and youth at LB (Bostic/Greene), with Yr 3 looking like DL is what he wants to restock/rebuild which makes a ton of sense.

Its at the very least refreshing after watching Angelo watch/continue to do next to nothing about the massive issues at OL/WR/etc.

Grade: B-plus. Young was one of the better under-the-radar talents available in free agency. This is a perfect role for him, too — the No. 2 DE in a mostly 4-3 defense, on a team that resides in the NFC North division with which Young’s very familiar. Very solid addition for the Bears.

True, but with the budget he has had to work with Emery has brought us two starting caliber DE when we had none. I would argue as 2 DE's they're better than Wooten/Shea & Peppers combo.

I wouldnt say Pasqualoni is the Kromer of the defense but he will make sure his guys work their asses off and give 100% each time, something we didnt have last year. I think he was an excellent hire for the new group coming in.

I don't agree w mick at all about jay but were 100% on the same page w this D. Emery seriously lost me w his " d was better w Shea Bc stats told me" crap he spewed. Not sure how anyone can call this a bad move. Probably an upgrade over Wootton, still got a good 3-4 years left in him & he came cheap for a starting DE that pressures the QB.

I think some of you guys don't understand how bad this whole defense was at getting to the QB last year, not just sacks but getting there & causing havok.

Good stuff. Like many others already said....getting Peanut and Melton back would make me very happy. Even 1 of them.

If we could only sign one, I would choose Peanut. Dude is a plain game changer, and he is the second biggest impact defensive player the Bears have had in the past 10+ years outside of Urlacher. He was missed as soon as he came out of the lineup.

With the resigning of Ratliff, I think the Bears are in a position to let Melton walk, and look to the Draft.
