I would think that the Bulls knew everything about Rose's knees after missing two years, and owing him millions of dollars. The bottom line is Rose was overused and expected to do too much, imo.

And Danimal would get a scope on Monday and play on Sunday. He did that many times. He had 9 scopes on one knee and 7 on the other.

Rose(and Reggie)more or less dictated his own timetables, which were almost twice that of any normal rehab.

He had time off before the holidays, due to the sniffles.

What was Thibs to do, if Rose says he can play then why is it bad coaching to find out if he can actually play?...which he couldn't b/c he was afraid to drive and never developed a perimeter game.

More like why didn't they make sure that it wasn't a possibility? Or at least a very very very slim one...

It was because of the procedure he got done in 2013. It had to be done anyway. At least that's how I understood it.

If the Bulls and D. Rose knew this was a possibility, wtf was he doing playing basketball over the summer?

Because what else was he supposed to do? Not play basketball again? They didn't guarantee it. The docs just warned him that it could happen again. So it's pretty much like "You have to get this done, but there's always the chance it could tear again."

It's suppose to be like a video game dude. You put Rose on IR until Round 1 of the playoffs, then expect him to be in MVP form right away.

You just hack the game so that it lets you play him even though he's injured. Then you drop 50 with him easy. THAT'S HOW IT SHOULD BE!

I'm not ready to close the door on Derrick Rose's career, or even the Bulls' season, yet.

No, I really don't want to rely on a 26 year-old with knee problems as a "franchise player" but I still respect him and think it is possible he can help the team in the future. But now expectations should really start to change.

Even without Rose, this team can do a lot of damage in the playoffs. Maybe (big "maybe") even win the East. So the season, in my mind, is still worth investing a lot of interest.

Agreed. Reports are saying Rose may only miss 6 weeks, which puts him returning a week before the playoffs. Then we can have an endless supply of "will he/won't he return" threads. However, I think history tells us that Rose is not coming back this year. Even if he did, how much he could actually help the team at that point is completely up in the air. I still don't think we have a chance in hell of making it out of the East now but I'd love to see us overachieve like we always seem to do when the chips are down.

Same point as old thread, the Rose multiple rehab/injury saga has much to do with Rose himself.

I chose your posting among several hundred b/c there are no good memories without a fucking ring.

I think scores of Jazz fans would disagree. Knicks fans too. Or how about Kings fans? I'm sure they hate remembering back to the late 90's and early 00's.

Your point is pointless much like you initial response was.

according to all the doctors its rare that a person will have it repaired twice so they will probably remove the torn piece

so we are looking a 6 week time table but you never know with Derrick and how he manages injury

still i don't know if we can put faith in Rose anymore the guy is injury prone unfortunately

its sad but atleast for Rose he set himself and his family up for a long time...even though its killing our cap lol

If Rose cares more about not having chronic knee problems in the future, he will not have it removed.

Kind of sad that what I stated about Rose and the Bulls future the night before has been accelerated by this injury. After watching him relative to someone like Westbrook...I didn't see the drive to return to his old self. Those days are gone now. And I doubt seriously if any of his teammates will be waiting for him to come back. It is what it is.

As far as the cap goes, will be interesting how the Bulls handle Rose's contract. Will they explore all options? I don't know, but I think they've run out of whatever hope they had left.
