If Rose cares more about not having chronic knee problems in the future, he will not have it removed.

yeah thats true

the way he talks he may be the rarity and opt to get it fixed

I think at this point, only he cares about his long term health. Imagine if he did cut it and came back in 6 weeks and sucked (like most players returning from injury do)...how many people would say "he should've just tried to fix it instead of crippling the team with his presence"

The fans have pretty much checked out save a few. There is no win scenario for Derrick unless he magically starts playing at MVP level again, and even then everyone will just be waiting for the next injury.

Point? It doesn't really matter which operation he chooses.

FWIW: the guy that broke the news on Reddit said he got the info from John Paxson's son and he said it would be a 6 week timetable

but maybe a decision on how to handle it wasn't positivity made yet and thats why we don't have any word on it

I honestly think Derrick hasn't made a decision yet. The assumption with this kind of injury is to get it snipped, but as we all know, that doesn't seem to fit Rose's previous comments. However, I think he's seriously weighing that option because it means he could come back this year, and as much as we hate to play that game again, I think that is, deep down, what he wants. Unless you're a Rose hater I guess...then he's just trolling us all.

Easy. You choose the one that lets you come back and help your team, instead of missing a FOURTH STRAIGHT playoffs.

No it doesn't really matter because at this point not a single fan or coach or front office can rely on him to stay healthy. It was already unprecedented what he was trying to accomplish by returning to MVP form after two knee surgeries. I mean you hate to use the "three strikes" analogy but it's pretty relevant in this case. There is simply no way you can leverage any sort of future of the team on him. You can't even expect him to return this year and give the team anything other than more inconsistent play like we saw this year.

I know it's hard to come to grips with this guys but the sooner you do, the better you will feel. The Derrick Rose we all knew and loved is gone and he's never going to return.

Why? He'll just reinjure himself anyway

to get that 40 million owed

ehh money isn't a huge deal for derrick at this point. granted 40 mil is still 40 mil but dude has made more money off the court than on the court in his career to this point. dude is loaded already...is it that hard to believe derrick loves the game of basketball still?

You'd be surprised how much fanfare and hope there still is on Reddit that Rose will be a Superstar again. I got bashed to hell for suggesting he's gone after his contract is up.

If that's the prevailing thought, then why should he ever play again?
There's been constant jokes about him retiring since he tore his ACL. I'm exaggerating the opinion in this case, obviously. In reality though, how much help can he really be in a playoff series against the Wizards or the Cavs? There were plenty of questions before, how much more so now?

they still hate Kirk's guts there

Kirk hate is universal
Took them forever to come around to that.

I was one that first suggested him being reduced to hell in minutes when his injury occurred... BRING ON THE DOWNVOTES!

I actually think that place might be filled full of former PSD homers. That place was notorious homer. Kirk Hinrich was treated like he was LeBron there.

And somewhat unwarranted for the past couple years. This year though...meh. Perhaps he'll still shoot well though since it's the second half of the season.

Same point as old thread, the Rose multiple rehab/injury saga has much to do with Rose himself.

I chose your posting among several hundred b/c there are no good memories without a fucking ring.

Well good job pointing out what I thought 3 years ago!
