Do you believe Trubisky has the tools to succeed?

Franchise QBs step up in the big moments. Trubisky doesn't have that intangible gamer quality. He wilts.

Field awareness/vision and pocket presence are horrible.

I don't think he's the answer based on the 13 starts I've seen so far, but Pace's career will ride on the success of Nagy and Trubisky so he's going to get a long chance to get better.

Agreed. That 2 minute drill made me believe that as well. He totally dropped the ball and I believe it’s something you have or don’t .. Mitch doesn’t have it

Last year:

He threw picks late against both the Vikings and Saints.

He made a clutch throw to set up the win in Baltimore.

He had an incredible scramble followed by a laser throw to Inman to put them in position to go to overtime against the Lions. Barth missed...

Sunday night, he led a 6.5 minute drive late against the Packers and Nagy made an interesting decision to pass on third and short when the game could have been iced.

What other games did he “wilt” late?

Yup.

It's funny to see the Mitch/Pace nuthugger meatballs that were jumping for joy when Pace set the franchise back 3 years by moving up to get Mitch do an about face and finally facing reality that he's just no good. Sure will be fun to watch real QBs like Darnold, Mahomes and Watson develop, though.

Can you imagine this place after Watson tears his ACL in a non contact drill while wearing a Bears uniform. The meltdown would've been epic!

PTSD from Derrick Rose.

I was in favor of drafting Mahomes or Watson and I’m hardly a meatball but if you truly believe that a judgement should be made on Trubisky at this point, you aren’t that intelligent about football. He might end up not cutting it but it’s too early to know.

And that's the scariest part of all. by the time they realize he's not the guy we will have wasted a good defense and a good running game

Simply put: it's still too early to tell.

What scares me most about Trubisky is he has that look on his face of confusion all too often. Sometimes we get cutaways to his face under his helmet and he's got that blank Lovie stare going on like he's completely lost.

LOL. I have a 99% accuracy rating on my #calledits here on CCS. I can 100% tell you that our dear Mitchell won't be one of the rare 1% things I'm wrong about.

Intellectually, I think the kid is pretty simple. From a football standpoint, he’s one of those gym rat guys that works hard enough to eventually get it. These days, everything is a hot take. He has one start in the Nagy offense which was Nagy’s NFL head coaching debut. The brakes need to be pumped on the Trubisky sucks narrative.

This is the most frustrating part of it. They look like they're a good QB away from being a serious contender. I can only imagine what was going through Khalil Mack's mind watching that last drive being pissed away with terrible throws and his work being flushed down the toilet as the offense can't just get a first down.

That’s impressive. I guess Mitch is in real jeopardy.

I'm not the one pushing that narrative.

Personally, I think you do yourself a disservice if you drafted a guy 2 overall and don't give him 2-3 years to see if he can figure it out.

Pace further married Trubisky when he traded away the next 2 1st round picks.

Like it or not, we're gonna know a lot more about Trubisky after this season. And it will be apparent whether the bears are trending up or sticking in the cellar of the division. And if it's the latter, it'll be at least a few years before the bears recover. That's just how important the QB position is.

It's really cool that in the real world everyone knows that it can take years before you know what you have in a QB, but right here on CCS we have numerous people that can override that and see things like facial expressions and make this determination.

I look forward to the Trubisky/Miller combo coming into play tomorrow night and Jordan Howard domination. Also good to know that when our defense is dominating we don't have a QB throwing it to the other team.

I'll save judgement until after the season unfolds. Hopefully he bounces back on Monday. Also welcome back Desbro.

Wait, I thought you were a huge Trubs guy, even going so far as changing to a clever Trubs related ChiCity handle and getting mad at people for making observations about his game or deficiencies.

Most people who are "saving judgement" don't go on such emotional rollercoasters like that. They're usually more level headed imo.

Did the Packers game cause a script flipping? If so, how come? And for how long?

I don't know if this is directed at me or not, but I did not state that Trubisky is going to be a bad QB simply because of his observed facial expressions. I stated it was concerning because he looks confused all too often.

I just stated it would be unwise to not give him 2-3 years under center, especially with the bears current draft picks situation, as it won't be easy to draft a replacement any time soon...

"Looks Confused" is literally you reading his facial and body expressions and making a determination on that.

Absolutely not directed at you, and really not directed to anybody in particular, my apologies if you thought that. If I had to give my analysis of Novak's stance on Trubisky, it would be he is skeptical, but hopeful.
