RT @IowaCubs Brett Jackson leads off the 3rd with a triple and Alfredo Amezaga drives him in with a RBI single. 4-0 Iowa, T-3.

Its just so tough watching Cubs not being able to score runs when you have Rizzo doing what he doing. I know Jackson has had up and downs but at some point need to try and get the offense going for Cubs. Cant keep wasting all these good starts

I wouldn't be surprise. He has ate so much money so far...

18 million from Z and 6.5 million from Byrd.

They'll do it after they can guarantee that extra year (which should be about now) and possibly even after they can guarantee that he won't be a Super Two.

This has been posted before and the Super Two thresholds may change, but it should be about right:

Service Time Considerations For Top Prospects: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

Brett Jackson's minor struggles are still a convenient excuse to keep him down for some extra "work" while Bryan LaHair is a built in excuse to keep Rizzo down until they're ready to bring both up around the All-Star Break.

If cubs wanted to get rid of soriano...

would a buyout be out of the question?

Be best for both

Anthony Rizzo hit his 2nd 3-run homer of the game and then Josh Vitters went back to back.

Hitting for power and drawing walks were the big knocks against Vitters. That and not being able to play 3B. If the Cubs have three position playesr in the minors ready to take big league spots the rebuilding process might be a lot quicker than initially anticipated.

Looks like the I-Cubs ate their Wheaties this morning. Brett Jackson with a bomb to center is now a double shy of the cycle. #getsome

Also Rizzo hit another HR tonight.Vitters also went deep

Frankie De La Cruz has been thrusted into the starting rotation in Iowa after all of the shuffling of pitchers out of Iowa. He is actually being pitching pretty solidly in AAA with a 2.57 ERA after tonight's 6.2 IP with 2 ER given up.
