I was actually kind of surprised it wasn't Reasoner comign back for Campbell. I can't think the Hawks were actually seeking Olesz.

Yeah stranger things like Campbell being traded to Florida. But I give Campbell a ton of credit on that one. People are thanking Dale and Stan, they shouldn't forget to thank Campbell, and not like in a back handed compliment sort of way. For as long as he was here, he really seemed to enjoy being a Hawk and he was obviously a huge part of that locker room. He could have laughed at the notion of being traded to Florida, because Dale Tallon or no Dale Tallon, it's still the fucking Florida Panthers. I don't see a Toews or Kane coming up at the same exact time at exactly the RIGHT time anytime soon for them. And who would've blamed him for not waiving his NTC to go there? I know I wouldn't have. But he helped out the Hawks a TON by doing that, by "taking that bullet".

He believes in Dale Tallon. It's just that simple. Last years Cup Champions were Dale Tallons team. They ALL believe in Dale Tallon. Don't be surprised of MORE of those SC Champions head their way down to Florida.

I didn't find Campbell going to Florida strange at all. In fact it was suggested months ago. One for Cap space on their end, and two it was Tallon, and Brian was his boy. Not to mention what Campbell does to their line up.

I've heard a few Panthers fans chime in saying Olesz has lots of potential. I know 26 is pretty late to start seeing that potential come out, but hopefully he'll be like Sharp and start hitting his stride after he joins the Hawks. I would imagine with his injury we won't know his ability until December or so. It will take awhile for him to get back into full hockey shape.

You just said in the other thread that Madden is old and Drury is broken... why would you want Konopka over Drury?

Me peronally I wouldn't take either Stu. I already told you why I dont think Drury should be looked at, I just dont understand the love affair alot of people have with Z. He is a career -32 and has less then 30 NHL pts. I'd rather see Laich or someone like him. Yeah Konopka fights, but we're keeping your boy Scott for that.

I wouldn't want Konopka, and I don't see why his name gets thrown around so much. Bubble already mentioned that he ain't that good. Drury is broken, if he would be healthy and cheap then I might consider it a possibility. Reasoner would be high on my list of 4th line centerman to get. Laich is probably going to cost an arm and a leg.

I am not so familiar what UFA's are available this summer, but I have a feeling it's slim pickings. It's good that the Hawks are more in the market of role players than impact players.

Bring back Ladd and the 3rd/2nd line gets some grit. Hell since he was given the C in ATL and put up decent numbers, maybe 1st line duty with Toews and Kane? Give them some physicallity on the 1st line. Oh and if we get either Buff or Ladd back, does Loungo retire out of frustration?

I was disappointed when they gave Ladd the 'C' in Atlanta cause I figured he would be then become a mainstay of that franchise (aka Winnepeg). Since he's an RFA he'll likely resign with his current team cause no one makes offers to RFAs from other teams (unless it's Doug Wilson).

If Tampa doesn't get a deal in to Stamkos in time there will be several teams putting in offer sheets to him.

I have no doubt that daddy Bowman is telling little Stan what to do. No way he's making these moves without consulting dad.

We'll....Scotty's job with the Hawks is as an advisor, so it is expected for Stan to consult Scotty.

If Stan was consulting with daddy during the draft, it wasn't at the draft table.

I was there in person sitting just one section away from the Hawks table and on draft night Stan was his own man. It's not to say they didn't discuss things prior to their 5 pm arrival time (doors opened at 4 and we were there). Love the pick at 18; not a big fan of the pick at 26. Other players we (well not me my GM son) had ranked much higher were still available. We wanted the kid the Canadians took at 17; that was a bummer. My first draft live and must say it is a blast watching the inner workings of the GM's that you don't see on TV. Doug Wilson spent the entire Friday night trying to work a deal. Gillis of Vancouver tried to work something out with and Wilson and his face said it all and I swore he said, "really, are you kidding me?" with a face that said Go FY. I highly recommend attending a draft in person if you ever get the chance. And find an 11 year old who thinks he knows everything about the first 90 players to be selected. That makes it a blast.

And finally my condolences to the Tbird family as I found out from Icehogsfan while sitting in OHare waiting on our flight to St Paul. I'm sorry I couldn't attend the memorial but heard it was a terrific send off.

While Stan may have been a rookie he was under Tallon for quite a few years and around the game his entire life. But I'm sure most things are a group decision with input from all. Hopefully the ****** stays out of this aspect.

Sounds like it was fun being there and hopefully comes to Chicago some year. The coverage pretty much sucked after the first round. They were too busy interviewing parents, and running commercials, verses actually COVERING the fucking draft.

All you need for the draft, really any draft in any sport now, is a few reliable reporters on Twitter. They get the info out faster and better than the TV coverage does.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
As for the extra money, I would like to see us sit on a couple of mill for tagging space to SIGN SHARP!!!

As for the rest, I wouldn't mind seeing Sopel or Wiz back. In fact, Wiz would give us the option for a second BIG shot from the blueline on the PP.

Plus with Brouwer gone, I would like to see them make a play for Kotex. if they need extra cash just ship off Stalberg. (please do in fact.)

I think people are too eager to ship off Stålberg. Sure, he isn't anything special, but I think he might be on the verge of finding his role on this team and I am sure his contract won't be too expensive. What could the Hawks get in return if he was shipped out? I say keep him for the time being and if needed could be part of a package that could get something at the trade deadline.

I wonder if they're even going to make a QO to Stalberg.Today's the deadline, I believe so we'll know pretty soon who they sent qualifying offers to.

Let's put it this way - Medvedev is the President of Russia, yet everyone knows that Putin is the real President and the one with the true power calling the shots. Same analogy.

What's the admission cost to the draft? And didn't you feel like you had long periods of just waiting around for the next pick to be called?

Putin's won twelve Cups. I don't mind him pulling the strings.
