Draft Day Deals: Campbell to FLA, Brouwer to WSH

His birthday was in February of 93... So yeah, definitely can't play in Rockford... Can't play in the A til your 20, right? I just wanted to make sure of that.

But wow... They seriously believe he can play on the big club this year? Where would we put him if he got here?

I think they more meant he thinks he can. I think he's going back to Jr's to get more WHL.

He was drafted to be the Center behind JT. But I doubt this year, and or maybe not even next.

That was my expectation... Since he's 18 and since we have too many at center (with the expected signing of a 2nd line center), he can't go to the A. So yeah the WHL is likely where he'll be for the next two years. Due to that, I think he would take 3 yrs to get to the Hawks, which should include a Rockford stint...

I don't want him being pushed like other teams do with their players.

Exactly that's what makes Panther players so hard to examine. The whole team sucks ass so hard to tell if anyone has any real talent. I mean c'mon this is the team that made Ollie Jokinen look good.

Nathan Horton turned out OK for the Bruins.

Pass on all 3. Scott should be a 4th line winger. A winger goes to the sin bin for fighting big deal. a Dman goes, that's a big deal

I forgot to use purple. Maybe Olsen will see some ice time on the big club this year before these guys.

If we want real depth at center why not go grab Madden back for a million, and Laich for 2.5. That would still leave us a shit ton of space and we'd have a solid as line up down the middle. Also if Buff, Ladd or Versteeg returned I'd jizz my pants. People seem to forget how great Versteeg was for us, PK, PP, great even strength, great back check, the guy was doing it all come time Stanley Cup Finals. Also his rap at the parade made him legendary.

I am really impressed with Stan today. Working the phones, making great trades and draft choices, really getting us out of this cap situation.

I have no doubt that daddy Bowman is telling little Stan what to do. No way he's making these moves without consulting dad.

Laich is going to get a lot more than 2.5, very likely he's in the 4-5 million range considering how weak the market is for center

I love Versteeg but that rap at the parade really was goofy and made him look immature.

If Laich gets more than 3.5 I'll shit my pants. Guy is very SOLID, not a damn superstar, Jonathan fuckin Toews makes 5.5.

6.3, and Laich will likely get $4+ mil per.

Campbell traded gives this team massive options going forward, and, most importantly, allows us to keep Sharp on the team. Hurray!

no doubt Laich will be working in the 4-5 million range, which is crazy..but that's why i was asking who else for a ufa centre. The market is very weak....Nylander anybody haha.

By the way, lost in all of this, is the fact that Campbell will pocket an additional $700k per year by moving to Florida... That had to be taken into consideration.

What a great move by Scooter...I can't say it enough. I was a big fan of both Campbell and Brouwer...but he just shaved some great money.

They can even buyout Olesz - and the cap hit is peanuts -

TEXT CAP HIT BREAKDOWN (for copying and pasting)

Rostislav Olesz buyout from CapGeek.com

2011-12: $372,222

2012-13: -$227,778

2013-14: -$477,778

2014-15: $647,222

2015-16: $647,222

2016-17: $647,222

To hell with Laich...with this savings, I'd kick the tires on Richards. See if the guy wants to win and get him under 6. If - and I'm sure Laich - is going to want 3.5-4 ...I'd put up 2 more mil to get Richie boy to play behind Toews who would be sick with Hossa. What a shutdown pair Hossa/Richards would be....

I think Olesz is on IR and therefor not eligible to be bought out and by the time he could be activated the buyout window would have closed. Looks like they could be stuck with him for a year at least.

Looking at Olesz stats, what on earth gave them the idea that he would be worth the money that they threw at him. 6 year contract worth almost $19M, WTF?!
