Can live with the Troy trade as I think he had gone as far as he could with the Hawks so best of luck in Washington but the Campbell trade I'm not so sure about. Money wise it's a great deal but it does hurt the team on the ice. As pointed out here the Hawks are a totally different team on the ice with him in it.

What the trade tells me, especially with getting really nothing back in return --- that Q, Scotty and Stan all believe that Leddy is ready to take his place on the second D-line. It's quite the promotion, if you ask me. If not him, then Campoli. It's definitely one of em earning that spot. Either way, they've both earned their time here.

It's a high-risk, high reward situation. It needed to be done to keep Sharp here.

For all we know this change of scenary will be perfect for Olesz to play up to his contract. He's no longer an underperforming cog of an underperforming team but could be considered a key role player who while overpaid, won't be viewed that way considering what we dumped for him. Anything we get out of him for the next three years would be great. And if he has a great year this year I don't doubt we can move him again for his last two year with what we have down the pipeline. And if we get nothing out of him, we still win. It's really a great move all around.

Exactly that's what makes Panther players so hard to examine. The whole team sucks ass so hard to tell if anyone has any real talent. I mean c'mon this is the team that made Ollie Jokinen look good.

Do we like the Campbell trade? It looks like we got a pretty shit contract back considering Olesz production. Still lots of capspace. How about the Brouwer deal? I've been away enjoying midsummer festivities.

Brouwer deal ... Like, especially if we got a goalie to draft (which obviously didn't happen).

Campbell deal... Getting someone to eat that contract is worth getting barely anything in return, though I was really hoping to get Reinprecht out of it. And kudos to Campbell for waving the NTC to go to Florida!

Call me crazy for it, but it needed to be done. Sure the production will be very missed, but as I said earlier, it means that in my opinion, I think that the management team believes that either Leddy or Campoli are ready to take on that responsibility. Getting that responsibility for less than half the price is more than worth it if we can lure high quality players here and if we can get Sharp re-signed.

I think both were good moves.

As for Campbell you did take a shitty player/contract back, who has a NTC that kicks in July 1st this year BUT you can definitely buy him out next year. Plus I'm sure if they want they can send him to Rockford. Plus he only has 3 years left at 3 mil where as Campbell had 5 years left at 7 mil.

It gives you 4 mil right off the bat and you have Leddy and Campoli that together will in my opinion, pick up the slack of missing Campbell. Campoli especially. He was a surprise to most of us right out of the gate after the trade last year.

Troy I think has the potential but could just never bring it here with the lack of proper slot allocation. He was only very good at times when paired with JT and Kane. And honestly he should not be on the top line with this team.

I think he's replaceable but it MUST be a physical player. Plus you have Morin and Smith that were obviously ready last year.

Good day for Stan in my opinion. Once again a former GM named Dudley and or Tallon, helped him out.

Love that pick. I didn't even think he'd drop to us. Too tempting to pass that one up.

Agreed this years draft was really strange. While I didn't pay much attention it was clear that after #10 there should be MANY successful NHL players come from the 10-30 picks.

It will be interesting to see how many in the coming years. This kid could be our future #2 Center behind JT. Just not sure he's ready yet though.

They've been saying this was a deep draft, in a way that after the consensus top picks it's pretty average material but still have the potential to be decent NHLers.

He's just turned 18, so he's got time to grow. What I like about this kid is that he's also 6'2". Very nice. I can see him potentially making the club in about 3-4 years after a year in Rockford...

Best part, guys.... He's not going to want to leave. Check what I read on him:

From all I've read he's only a year or so away at worst. I would like him to have a year in Rockford first.

From what they said last night he's going to try and make the Club this year. Been working very hard since being dumped from the World team.

If he's only 18 he can't play in Rockford.

His birthday was in February of 93... So yeah, definitely can't play in Rockford... Can't play in the A til your 20, right? I just wanted to make sure of that.

But wow... They seriously believe he can play on the big club this year? Where would we put him if he got here?

What are the odds the Hawks buy out Olesz's contract?

Not an option this year. He's coming off knee surgery and won't be cleared to play until the beginning of Sept.

Can't buy out an injured player. He also has a NTC starting July 1st. They could trade him before July 1st, or send him to Rockford and have someone take him on re entry for half.

Bunch of things really.
