14 mil come july 1st. Hats off to Stan.

We had $10 mil to work with before. Don't know what Olesz costs so after the offset we gain $4 mil from the Campbell trade? This will certainly help Stan down the road to remove ANY worries about Sharp.

I thought we had 12 before, net 4 on this deal?

Sharp will get a nice chunk of that.

Not really. I would think about 1.5 mil more than he's getting now. Remember the Cap is going up again next year due to the TV contract. Sharps 4 mil is already figured into the used Cap Space. So it's only his raise. NO way does he get more than 5.5.

My guess is 5.5-6.2m per for 3 years. We'll see.

Extremely surprised Campbell was moved. As everyone has stated before-- just wish the contract wasn't so bloated.

At least the Hawks have all this cap space to sign Konopka now.

Sorry. My bad. It was $11.4. before. I was still thinking pre-finalized cap ceiling numbers before the Winnipeg transfer fee enriched everyone's coffers a bit more.

I remember where we couldn't call up certain players from the Hogs due to their cap hits. It will be nice to be able to not have to worry about that if a player earns a shot.

I do find it out that it's a straight player for player trade? I feel like there are still some details missing? I thought there were rules and such that trades had to abide by or vetos by people and such? Maybe that's just in other sports where they have to match contracts.

I can't remember what player it was but the ottawa pick I believe, I was loving when he said he likened his game to Sharp, he's not as good he said, but would love to be a patrick sharp type player. Just goes to show how deep and great this team is, and exactly what type a player sharp really is and how much he means to this team. I think the best part about this trade, even though I hate to lose soupy, is that it KILLS the sharp trade rumors.

You ain't nevah lied! Even if Sharpie's eventual raise comes from the TV revenue next season or whatever and other fanbases never realize that it doesn't matter. Because it gets seriously tedious reading everyone under the sun always wanting Sharp and always asking what it would take to get him. . .and I mean I have been reading that shit going on heavily for 2 years now because of how sweet his current contract is. Suck on it would-be poachers!

Yes, no more Winnipeg fans here telling me Sharp's coming here, nor the Leafs fans telling me they were going to get him.

The Wiz would be a great guy to plug in their on the Dcorps, but his value right now is crazy high. I'm sure he'll get a crazy offer that'll be tough for him to turn down.

BINGO!!! Dead on about Sharp. This helps the Hawks resign him and I guarantee it was part of the reason to deal Campbell. Works for me...it had to be done.

Olesz is a 3.1 hit until 13/14.

He is overpaid for his abilities but we needed something back and it wasn't going to be something very pretty. But could have been much worse. I still think if Frolik is resigned it may be worth re-uniting these 2. a little familiarity is a good thing when making trades.

Hawks lose some toughness with getting rid of Troy too. So as far as I see it the Hawks still need 3 things going into next season.

1) Another blueliner..and a puck moving one would be nice.

2) Another physical wing. Say what you want about Troy but when not scoring the guy was one of the few physical wingers we had. He will be missed and needs to be replaced. Olesz doesn't fix that problem in my opinion even though he is a fairly big body. He isn't dropping the gloves to protect a team mate anytime soon..Troy did and does.

3) Center. Still hasn't been addressed even though Stan drafted a wicked prospect who may make the club out of camp.

I would like to see character additions also like the ones in Brouwer and Campbell which we just lost. That doesn't have a price tag and is veeeery important.

What were the cap savings with the addition of the cap spike? 10 mill or so? Stan has a lot to work with. Some of that will be needed to bank for Sharp.

I understand why all these trades were done today and I think Stan did a strong job. I am just still not sitting pretty with the Brouwer deal unless some toughness comes back. Just me..I know this board is split sometimes when it comes to Troy.

For all we know this change of scenary will be perfect for Olesz to play up to his contract. He's no longer an underperforming cog of an underperforming team but could be considered a key role player who while overpaid, won't be viewed that way considering what we dumped for him. Anything we get out of him for the next three years would be great. And if he has a great year this year I don't doubt we can move him again for his last two year with what we have down the pipeline. And if we get nothing out of him, we still win. It's really a great move all around.

I am hoping Olesz can really bust out here. 1st Rd, #7 overall in 2004 ain't too shabby. FLA probably brought him up to the big club too soon after drafting him. Dude is only going to turn 26 this year and has already played 6 seasons in FLA. Hopefully the Hawks can bring out his potential. He's had a couple of down years but eh, considering they threw him into the fray at 20 he's also had a 30, 29, 26, and 21 pt. seasons. Not bad for a baby. We''ll see---hoping for the best and that he can earn his $3.1 mil per with a fresh, new start on an exciting team in an exciting market.

I must say yet again, Stan DOES have a sweetass way with poaching other teams 1st Rders---it's starting to get kind of eerie, LOL!

Olesz is still really young for a hockey player (25). Sure he hasn't put up the points people expected, but again, he was with the Panthers much like Frolik was. 3.1 is high, but who knows, Sharp came over to the Hawks when he was 26 and he didn't produce until his 3rd season in.
