"The only surprise there was that Danny hit someone," said Vigneault with a slight chuckle. "I'm not sure exactly what happened on that, because Danny and Hank aren't the guys that are the most physical across the league. They'll throw the odd hit in there, but usually it's not a bone-crushing hit."

Well....perhaps that had someone to do with Keith's reaction there, eh Vigneault....LOL

What a bunch of double talking ass clowns. Danielle started it with a dangerous hit. Be a man for once in your sissy ass life and own what you did to set off Keith.

Don Cherry said it best on Coaches Corner Saturday night comparing what happened to Crosby identically to Sedin.

He warned Crosby to get away from the stupid stuff because he was only asking for trouble. Wallla Concussion.

Same thing happened to Sedin. He did something stupid AGAIN but this time someone had enough and gave it back to him.

My feeling is if Sedin didnt get hurt he was going to get 3 games for his head hunt of Keith and Keith was going to get 8 games for his on Sedin.

He did the math and gave Keith 5 and called it even.

8 games on a first offense when Doan just recieved 3 for his 3rd, second in two weeks time. I don't buy it. Someone from above influenced the decision. Just to fishy with the calls and process.

Pretty much. I think 5 is within the bounds of "fair" (on the harsh end of fair), but it still sends a harsh precedent. Now the onus is going to be on Shanny the next time a "star" player runs a "star" player. The league may have dug themselves a hole. Now, I would like to see the reaction if Crosby or someone as marketable who has a relatively clean record makes a similar play as Keith did. If they aren't getting at least 5 games the fans should riot.

Even better if it's one of the Sedins that makes said hit.

Yeah he's been digging himself a hole since he's started. The Keith/Sedin thing wasn't the first and won't be the last of horrible inconsistency. There's been many examples already. Sounds familiar. Fucking hell man, a culture change sooooooo needs to happen in the NHL, I just don't trust a single one of the people in the NHL right now to do it. Too much of the "old guard" and outdated hockey cliches and traditions abound everywhere you turn. I joked about it before, but hockey really does need to find a better league to represent it.

IMO the consistancy is the biggest issue and this entire fiasco threw that out the fucking window. It made the process look completely fucked. Imagine if an independent arbitrator got ahold of this? How bad would that make the NHL look? Especially after publicly acknowledging Sedins was, excuse me while I laugh, "shoulder to shoulder". Only if you are fucking not watching the video!

IMO Shanahan made his decision, called Keith or his agent and informed him it would be a phone hearing. Something then changed, and he called back the NEXT DAY informing him it was NOW to be in person. Says to me Shanahan is NOT making the decisions or definitely did not make them on this one.

Yeah, the Canucks organization along with Vancouver media were threatening the NHL with another riot.

That I can agree is a problem. I'm hoping the CBA takes care of it.

HAHA. It is ironic THAT team has not had a suspension all year. The ONLY team without one. None of their classless players did ANYTHING to warrant a suspension? I find that hard to believe as well.

TSN IceChips - Gillis say Sedin will be ready for the 1st round of the Playoffs. I'll bet he's back about the sametime Keith's suspension is done. No surprise there.

I so want to play these worthless fucks in the 2nd round.

Maybe I'm being to bloothirsty here...but am I the only one who wants to see Bollig get an instigator, major, match, and game misconduct, along wth whatever suspension for just grabbing Burrows and ragdolling him?

To me, if he did that, I would expect the guys on the ice to kill that penalty and ask for seconds.

Part of what made it 5 and not just 3 was the "flying eblow off the top rope". If Duncs had returned the favor but in a less blatant way it may have been a shorter suspension.

I believe if he did that, he would instantly become a legend here in Chicago.

I don't buy that. There was something that changed it or he never would have recieved the first call stating it was a phone interview. Had that not happened I might buy what you are saying. The first call, then a subsequent call changing it, to me says there was "other" influence.

I am not questioning that. I am just saying that it was like the McSorley hachett job. There is no escaping it because it is so dramatic. It wasn't like the Ovechkin hit on Campbell where a shove sent the other guy flying. Think about how much worse that incident would have been if Ovie grabbed Campbell and spun him around to launch or throw him at the wall.

That's all I was saying.

Doan dangerously extended his elbow and hit the guy in the face. Just as bad as Duncans IMO.
