I think the word generational is used too much by the media and then hence by the fans in general. The fact that it is used seemingly every other draft, if not every draft, shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what the word means.
If anyone falls for the “generational” word from the media, they are some stupid fucks. He’s still a fucking college player that will play like a rookie in his first year. Dumbass people who thought differently.

They needed an offensive minded HC. All you're getting is hand me downs when you let a lame duck guy like Eberflus choose the OC. Waldron was always going to be a failure. My Seattle Seahawks fan buddy hated him.
Seattle fans & reporters were almost unanimously against him.

I’d expect fans to hate their OC. Fans are like that, even with guys who are generally well-liked. But the reporters being unanimously against him definitely got me thinking.

During the OC search, Waldron’s hire was applauded by a generous amount of posters here.
Definitely not me. After they hired him, I said hey, that’s great. I hope Pete Carrol was holding him back and he couldn’t fully call all the play while in Seattle. But I originally wanted someone else. But oh well, I can’t do the picking.

Malik Willis is winning and done well in Green Bay.

Sam Darnold threw 4 TDs for the Vikings today.

Justin Fields is 3-0 in Pittsburgh.

Andy Dalton threw 3 TDs for the Panthers in their 1st win.

All started the year as backup QBs and are contributing to winning football.

It's more to winning in the NFL than QB stats. Above average QBs win all the time in the NFL when the team and coaching is good.

Bad teams and bad coaches hinder the best QBs.

Bears fans have drunk the kool-aid that QBs win games.

Have we become so QB focused that winning no longer matters?

I root for STATS and not WINS! Hell yeah.
It's rooting for the development of the QB..
Which is the only thing that matters in a year you are starting a rookie QB

The goal is to eventually win a Superbowl.. development of a QB is the first step

Wrong. This year, most important thing is the expulsion of Flus as the head coach.

Yes

It's there

Lots to clean up (oline; play calling, personnel) but the qb is in place.
Oh we’re definitely fucked if this dude believes this

This season in this situation, would you rather have a win and 120 yards, or a loss and 362 passing yards.

If you said the win, you don’t understand what it means to build a modern winner.
Considering we were sold a winning season because QB and the OC was the issue last season, I’m definitely saying win. I’d take a 200 yards 2-3 TD average game than what we saw yesterday

I mean, I doubt it. But what does the Steelers QB have to do with Caleb Williams and his rookie development?

Answer: A 4th round pick instead of a 6th round pick; so Poles can find a fucking center that doesn't get his ass blown off the LOS on 86.53% of snaps that has CW looking like he's stuck in Frogger and throwing off platform half the time.

When Williams has the time to set his feet and space to step through his throws his balls are really tight spirals with a lot of zip and the placement is nearly perfect hitting receivers in stride.

When he feels almost immediate pressure as soon has he finishes his drop or catches the snap from the shotgun. which is occurring on the majority of plays (because of week interior line play and opposing defenses bringing pressure with blitzes, stunts and just having better football players on the d-line) Caleb is developing happy feet and is avoiding pressure then having to throw off-platform and his balls are wobbling and off-target.

Rome wasn't built in a day (but he was picked 9th:smug2:) Caleb will be fine if this line doesn't ruin him. Poles should burn some of his future draft assets and go get a real Center. In the meantime, maybe they should pull Kramer off the PS and see if he can hold the LOS.

My son-in-law is a Steelers fan. Even with their injuries, they aren't as pathetic as this group of practice squad losers. In my decades watching this team, I'm not sure I've ever seen a worse offensive line. They can't pass block, they can't run block, and they can't even stay on their feet most downs. The line moves back five yards as soon as the ball is snapped. They're absolutely abysmal.
The Steelers have a worse OL

I for one take the W over the 30000 yards passing anytime..

Marcedes Lewis so far this season, three snaps, two penalties, nice going for seasoned veteran..
I wanted the Bears to keep Bates over Lewis, I thought toughness, speed and good hands should win out, Wanted them to try at FB also. We'll see how he works out for the Jets

Kinda late on this one, but it's not a Stat we should be bragging about. When a rook QB has to throw over 50 times on the leagues worst run defense, there is a huge glaring problem. I don't want any QB throwing 50+ times. Hell, Green Bay has Malik Willis winning games and we look like USC last year. That should be grounds for firing every fucking body involved.

If the 4 above are your starting QBs, you're in what's called Quarterback Purgatory. A guy good enough to win games week-to-week, but isn't enough to put you over the top and be the difference maker in January.

The Bengals were in this with Dalton for a decade. The Jets with Darnold. We had it with Fields. And Cutler. The Vikings with Cousins, Raiders with Carr, the list goes on and on.

Caleb Williams' development is about finally getting out of Quarterback Purgatory.
