yes, he's got inaccuracy issues as well. I don't think Trubisky or Fields were on Williams' level by game 3. he had 52 attempts because they can't run the ball. Bears offensive playcalling is telegraphed, the run blocking is poor, and the running itself isn't good. they're using wrong personnel. baby steps, I mean Kmet actually saw action today.

Waldron wasn't the answer. but as others have noted, when you have a lame duck defensive coach it's not going to attract high caliber OCs. see also: Lovie Smith fired after a 10-6 season
During the OC search, Waldron’s hire was applauded by a generous amount of posters here.

I was a fan.

In part because of the Geno thing - I think Pete Carroll had a big hand in instilling the confidence into Geno and Waldron just took credit.

Chris Morgan and Eberflus are the bigger culprits to me.

Unfortunately, it's nearly impossible to attract high caliber OCs unless you hire them to be your HC.

I for one take the W over the 30000 yards passing anytime..

Marcedes Lewis so far this season, three snaps, two penalties, nice going for seasoned veteran..
He’s had a fine career but his playing days are over.

Its because he threw for 370 yards but still looked pretty damn bad.

MAde all the same mistakes fields made, he just threw 50+ times. He also is still wildly inaccurate downfield. Thats the most concerning part.

If you let any QB throw 50+ times he better have 300+ yards.

I mean, there’s a lot of lesser QBs who never would have sniffed 52 pass attempts because (a) their coaches wouldn’t trust them to do so, and (b) they would’ve fumbled the ball or turned the ball over on downs before being able to get to that number.

Dave Canales was the QB coach, then went to Tampa and seemed to turn Baker Mayfield into a quality starter too. Now he just benched Bryce Young and Andy Dalton took that terrible Carolina team to Vegas and handed the Raiders their ass. He may be the one to credit, not Waldron.

I was really hoping the hiring of Waldron meant that my Bears were finally done with the stupid gadget plays.

Just like up and play football. No more options, wildcats, TE screens, etc

Someone please point out the teams with a worse offensive line than the Bears. And you better bring receipts.

The Pittsburgh Steelers.

“The Steelers offensive line has swirled in seeming chaos so far this season. The first-team center through the first three weeks of training camp (Nate Herbig) suffered a season-ending injury. Seumalo on Sunday will miss a third consecutive game to open the season. Starting tackles Dan Moore Jr. and Troy Fautanu have missed time because of injury, too — and the Steelers this week might be forced to ping-pong back from Fautanu to Broderick Jones to start at right tackle after Fautanu suffered an injury Friday.

Aside from four-year veteran Moore at left tackle, offensive linemen other from Daniels who have started games for the Steelers have just two (Anderson), two (Frazier), one (Fautanu) and 12 (Jones) career starts.”

My son-in-law is a Steelers fan. Even with their injuries, they aren't as pathetic as this group of practice squad losers. In my decades watching this team, I'm not sure I've ever seen a worse offensive line. They can't pass block, they can't run block, and they can't even stay on their feet most downs. The line moves back five yards as soon as the ball is snapped. They're absolutely abysmal.

also bc we had a lame duck coach it wasn’t expected that we’d get an OC with actually experience.

it was more likely that we’d get a Getsy type QB coach looking for an opportunity

This is why I think there's something to the coaching/scheme for our offensive line. Jenkins hasn't looked good and he's probably our best guy out there when healthy, which he has been. Shelton wasn't wretched before coming here. The list goes on.

Waldron is most certainly a huge problem. He's a dumb ****.

I know. I was hoping there would be improvement in that area, but alas...

They needed an offensive minded HC. All you're getting is hand me downs when you let a lame duck guy like Eberflus choose the OC. Waldron was always going to be a failure. My Seattle Seahawks fan buddy hated him.
