Most passing yards by a QB this season.

More yards than Fields or Trubisky ever had

But in a league where passing is the most important thing, I’m sure it’s nothing.

No team has ever faced a prevent defense or been in garbage time before, right?
Passing yards is a pretty good metric of how a rookie QB should be evaluated. Nearly all rookies turn the ball over, it is catching up to the speed of an NFL defense. But can that QB move the ball up and down the field on an NFL defense? That is what you should be seeing as a QB progresses.

I for one take the W over the 30000 yards passing anytime..

Marcedes Lewis so far this season, three snaps, two penalties, nice going for seasoned veteran..

The reason why the yardage is notable is because the Bears have been bad forever and still struggle to even luck into 300+ yard passing games against defenses that are begging them to throw. The fact that Caleb did this in his 3rd game, with absolutely no help from his RB's or playcaller, is not insignificant to me at all.

He has to take better care of the football, but you don't have to squint to see progress being made. He's looked more comfortable in every game this season, again, no thanks to his OC, who's incompetence directly lead to taking 7 points off the board and the crucial final turnover that effectively ended the game.

Its because he threw for 370 yards but still looked pretty damn bad.

MAde all the same mistakes fields made, he just threw 50+ times. He also is still wildly inaccurate downfield. Thats the most concerning part.

If you let any QB throw 50+ times he better have 300+ yards.

Correct......thats like bragging about your rb hitting 1000 yds rushing in his 17th game......
Playing 17 games,you better hit a 1000 yards......

yes, he's got inaccuracy issues as well. I don't think Trubisky or Fields were on Williams' level by game 3. he had 52 attempts because they can't run the ball. Bears offensive playcalling is telegraphed, the run blocking is poor, and the running itself isn't good. they're using wrong personnel. baby steps, I mean Kmet actually saw action today.

Waldron wasn't the answer. but as others have noted, when you have a lame duck defensive coach it's not going to attract high caliber OCs. see also: Lovie Smith fired after a 10-6 season

His inaccuracy issues definitely look like it's him still getting used to his receivers. He was zinging some tight window throws. That second interception hit Rome in the hands.

Aren't we supposed to give him 10 games. Fields in 4 years has a single 300yd game. Today Fields had 32 att 245yds 1 TD 1 Int and Steeler fans are acting like he's Pittsburgh Jesus. :p

This hasn't happened since Brian Hoyer in 2016 he definitely got some freebies thrown his way but he's showing steady improvements week after week something I've never seen from a Bears QB.
And your dumb ass called him a bust two weeks ago.

I really don't care.
I don't see the QBs being the main problem since Rex and even including Rex. I don't see the problems being completely fixed.

WRs, QB, TTT, that's great if we want to throw 5yd screens. And that could even work.
But until we get an oline who can keep a clean pocket for longer than 2.5 seconds this is all meaningless. Like having a nice juicy steak on a cheap paper plate.

This oline has problems as did the olines before that and the olines before that and the olines before that. I imagine that repeats itself until the time when the Bears actually had an oline and won a Super Bowl.

I'm reading this thread and I can believe what I'm reading.

If I had a choice of 300 yds or a win, it'll have to be the win.

That said. Fields is in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh.

CW plays for the bears and is only 3 games in on a team with a bad oline and apparent poor coaches.

He made some mistakes today but finally got a touchdown and put up positive yardage.

He needs to get better. Seems like he will at some point. Pointing out he hasn't played doesn't make make you a fan of the guy in Pittsburgh.

I'm a Steelers fan who happens to be a Bears fan. I'm glad Fields is there because believe it or not he's an upgrade.

I'm also glad CW is the qb here. He also is an upgrade, believe it or not.

I'm looking forward to the next game for both.

Comparing the two is pointless.

I'm happy to see the offense at least move the ball up and down the field today. I'm not happy with the lack of success running against a garbage run defense and the fact that we really couldn't penalize them for loading the box to stop the run with more deep passes being connected on. The offensive gameplan was just a complete head scratcher and I think I'm about ready to write off Waldron as a terrible hire after the first 1/4 of the season is over next week. The blocking schemes are terrible, the personnel usage is comical at times, he literally loaded personnel to one side and then runs back to the disadvantaged side multiple times, he managed to do one heck of a Nagy impression with his 4 runs out of shotgun inside the 5 yard line to come away with no points... there is absolutely nothing positive that can be said about that game plan. Williams took another step, albeit with some costly turnovers. I still can't get over the hail mary down at the one opportunity that was missed to end the first half.

Supposedly jurko says they had TWO TE's(Everett and Kmet) blocking Laitu on that play. IF so thats pathetic.

I'm not gonna look at the replay to confirm, but just sad.

It would be another indictment on this coaching staff which has failed to coach the offense to be physical
