Or on the flip side the players might grow a backbone after what they see happened with bell and will actually fight for a better cba for the players. History says they will bend over again but just maybe.....

First you are moving goalposts. Your original statement was that it was no different than mine not of no less value. They are in fact different because there is a difference between trying to be a smartass and trying to debate a point. The former uses comedy and the latter uses logic and they most certainly don't have the same entertainment value.

Moving goalposts? What goalposts? What in god’s Name are you rambling on about?

Step away from the computer, Remy. You’ve clearly, in fact, lost your shit.

I would figure that whatever base salary and bonuses were included in the first year of Pittsburgh's offer would have been "de facto guaranteed" even if they weren't guaranteed by definition, because the Steelers wouldn't be able to offload Bell that quickly (even if he was 260 lbs). I guess he "won on principle", but he lost a year of his prime career-wise, he didn't earn any additional dollars, and he took a huge gamble by turning down an existing offer and sitting out a year.

I don't think Bell's "principle victory" will be a new trend in players who are franchised. He got some horrible advice from his agent.

The guarantees were over the first two years and almost certainly included guaranteeing his base salaries those first 2 years as it certainly would not have been all SB. So they are likely already in the 33 million.

After watching highlights of Patterson in the backfield I am now officially on board with the signing if Nagy uses him like the Pats did. #markitdown

I already explained. Your claim was not that your comment had no less value so saying that now is moving the goalposts. Your original comment was your comments were no different than man which is obviously incorrect. Not sure why you trying to pretend otherwise. A smartass comment is obviously different than someone trying to debate the merits of an argument.

Please cite source. I never could find the details of the Steelers offer...all I heard was 5/70/33 guaranteed. I didn't know the exact structure. You obviously do, otherwise you wouldn't be making such a baseless "argument". I'm just curious where you found this information.

If I were you, I'd pull a Leveon and sit out CCS for the next year, but declare a 'victory on principle'.

It would have been exciting to get Bell no doubt. Really though, I am not sure it was the way to go.

If we had signed Bell, we still lose Callahan and Bush and are not able to get reliable contributors in the secondary like Buster. Sure, you can draft them, but our first pick is in the 3rd round and it's unlikely you find a guy into that type of starter role in the secondary. It's actually more likely you find a RB in the middle rounds to start. It's why it's hard for me to justify paying a RB like Bell that much per year. And as great as he has been, he was a work horse in Pitt. RBs tend to wear out a lot earlier than other positions and guys like Gore are not common at all.

You are seeing the effects of trading for Mack. You had to give up 2 first round picks and then pay him. So you have less to work with in free agency and less chances to get an immediate starter in the draft. Now Mack obviously worked out well for us so far. You can't have you cake and eat it too.

Remy, this is a fan sports forum not the Harvard College Debating Union.

Yes, I know you thought Pace should have went after Bell. I’m not trying to debate you to convince you otherwise because I really don’t care. I mearly pointed out most other teams had zero interest in Bell and that there are cap consequences beyond just this years FA signings. We’ve gone through that and we don’t see eye to eye. That’s ok.

We aren’t going to agree. There are no goalposts moving or stationary.

Is megapunt a FA? Yeah kicker is iffy. Sign Gostkowski or we probably just draft a kicker.

I’m pretty sure he is a fa also. A punter is only going to cost 1-2 mil unless Jerry Angelo is giving advise lol
