Yeah we kinda have to wait until prices start dropping but i see getting that 3rd edge guy as very important and not just a spot that we should go dumpster diving for. Floyd has the injury history so we need a guy good enough to be able to produce as a starter and not just a bench guy. That 3rd OLB spot is where i think we need to spend some decent money at and get a legit guy and maybe even 2 guys. So as of now we have.....

K.Mack
L.Floyd
I.Irving
K.Fitts

I think that's all we have right now under contract. I actually think I/Irving could end up being a pretty damn good speed rusher for us. Fitts didn't show me much at all in his limited playing time but for a late round rookie it's way too early to judge so i won't.

I wonder what E.Ansah is looking for in his next contract. He is injury prone but has produced when he's healthy. Probably too rich for us though and the guy i would love for us to get in J.Houston is probably also out of our price range. Do we go vet and add J.Houston, C.Mathews, C.Barwin or do we go young and add a S.Ray, S.Barrett, M.Golden, E.Harold?

my short list would be to look at perry, okafor, ray, golden, irvin and barrett...not sure what pagano covets in pass rushers, like vic supposedly preferred long armed pass rushers...if pagano is the same, barrett and golden are likely out as both are relatively short armed.

these guys i would try and bring in on vet minimum deal to battle it out in camp and such... branch, jordan, calhoun, harold

maybe we can sign Shane Ray so DezBears finally shuts the fuck up about him.

Not understanding the logic here, if the Bears sign Shane Ray wouldn't he talk about him even more????

I understand free agent DE Ziggy Ansah plans to fly into Buffalo from West Coast, and arrive tomorrow for a visit with #Bills.

What I’ve heard on ansah locally here is teams are in no rush for him cause he is recovering from shoulder surgery. Dude can play but he is the defense version of Kyle long when it comes to health

Yeah he can play when healthy but with already having Floyd and his injury issues we need to be careful about who we sign to back him up. J.Houston is also pretty injury prone but i'd still love to get him.

I like N.Perry but he's another injury prone player. I was wanting us to go after A.Okafor last year, he had just 4 sacks last year but not sure if he was a starter or backup. If Backup then i'm alright with 4 sacks as long as he's good in the run game. I can see all those guys mentioned being good rotational players and splitting backup duties with I.Irving and K.Fitts. When you're playing with guys like E.Goldman and A.Hicks next to you then you should get plenty of 1 on 1 blocking.

People need to stop obsessing over comp picks. It is much more important to sign players that will help our team right now while we have a wide open window.

If the Bears would pay attention to comp picks the window will stay open longer. Comp picks are basically an extra round in the draft that the Bears haven’t participated in in 10 years now. It’s ridiculous and piss poor planning.

Bears free agency update:

Depending on Cordarrelle Patterson’s structure, Bears sitting at ~$21 million in 2019 cap space

Signed 3 compensatory free agents (Davis, Skrine, Patterson) and lost 2 (Bellamy, Amos). Would need to lose 2 more qualifying free agents to be net negative

TO get comp picks you have to have competent drafting for a number of years to be in a position of strength to allow you to let a constant stream of desireable players go to other teams who will no doubt have to over pay to get them. We are a few years off of that position yet.

Former #Bears safety Adrian Amos' four-year deal with the Packers includes an $11 million signing bonus. Total guarantee is $12 million. It's full of roster bonuses and has Pro Bowl escalators starting in 2020.

Still refreshing Twitter, expecting to see Leveon Bell changed his mind and is coming to Chicago.

Just makes too much sense. He can rent Bryce Harper's house in the winter.

He should have demanded a PFFPoints escalator.

New Bears WR Cordarrelle Patterson’s two-year, $10 million deal has a base value of $5 million in year 1, with $250K in per-game roster bonuses. Next year is basically a team option, with a $4.25 million base and $500K in per-game rosters.
