Hypothetical.

Let's say Ryan Pace has 3 5-8 million dollar contracts to work with as his opening salvo in free agency.

What positions would you allocate those contracts to?

Middle linebacker, OG, and the 3rd I don't know. Maybe safety if the right guy is available

For me it is

ILB: horrible talent on the roster and a draft that I am not thrilled with.

OG: need a starter and I don't want to spend a high pick on OG.

DE: I know the draft is deep, but the Bears need 2 and they need a guaranteed improvement.

Guards aren't that hard to find in the draft. I don't believe we need to use a high pick in the draft to get one.

I do agree about a ILB in the draft. I don't see many diffence makers

True tampering began at the NFL Combine. Things will fall into place rather quickly after that.

so lets say 24 mil..

hmm could i possibly get both boone and osemele for around 7-9 per..

danny trevethan for 6-7

ian williams, brandon boykins and ladarious green for 6-8

22-24 mil for those 6 players... nearly 20+ left in cap

The #Texans are releasing RB Arian Foster, source said (as @AdamSchefter reported). They said it wouldn't be for money reasons.

I just worry that we are going to draft a 4th/5th round guy and sign an old vet and we end up with a revolving door again. RG crippled the Bears last season.

I would like to bring in a guy who is the starter at RG no questions asked.

Allows negotiations.

Before that teams use to negotiate 100 million deals at 12:01 and sign the guy at 12:03 it was a mockery of the tampering rule.

They also wanted to allow guys to visit teams over the weekend and early part of the week.

Plus, if you allow FA talks earlier, to accommodate these discussions, it will just ensure tampering occurs even earlier in the offseason. It's fine the way it is from my perspective.

I think that there will be many good Guards in the upcoming draft that can really help the Oline. Same thing about OTs in the first round.

Eddie Royal will have made 10 million guaranteed dollars by the end of next season. Right now that one does not look very good, albiet not a huge contract.

If they can, I'd try and trade Royal for a 3rd round pick and have Mariani take his spot.

OG: need a starter and I don't want to spend a high pick on OG.

DE: I know the draft is deep, but the Bears need 2 and they need a guaranteed improvement.

ILB - Danny Trevathan

RT: Mitchell Schwartz (Long goes back to RG and the Bears keep the option open of him moving to LT)

DE: Ian Williams (I'd like Jaye Howard but if we save $3m here and pay Williams $6m instead of Howard $9m we might be able to afford Schwartz at around $8-9m)

and for cheaper pick ups to fill areas of need the following: -

SS: Tony Jefferson, Isa Abdul-Quddus or David Bruton. If it's Bruton I would have to presume he's fully recovered from the injury he sustained last season. I'd be happy with all of them

CB: Brandon Boykin (Jeremy Lane probably a little too much)

I don't think you could trade Royal for a bag of doughnuts.

why wouldn't you be able to hold negotiations once FA officially starts? Since everyone can and will start negotiating 2 days earlier it's like it's just like someone here basically said, it's like Fa just starts 2 days earlier, but unofficially.... doesn't really make sense to me, but on the other hand, why care...? ;)

Twitter is a little abuzz with Osweiler and the Texans.

Would be very interesting.

He leaves and Peyton stays, how funny would that be.

I believe they would, justifiably, erect a bronze statue of Ryan Pace, just slightly larger and in front of the one of GSH at Halas Hall as soon as the ink dried on that trade.
