the bottom line is. we could have Megatron, Alshon and Odell and we still wouldn't win a shoot out against the Packers. not with are QB
the only way to beat the packers is to keep Rogers off the field, ie a clock eating run game with a great defense.
and it should be pretty obvious, if we can consistently beat the Packers, we will go to the playoffs.

so until we get a great QB, like a Arron Rogers, a run heavy/great D is the only formula that works.

Technically speaking, we already have our quarterback of the "future"

Draft whoever. Superbowl is inevitable.

I don't think your understanding this...That's all well and great. You are correct but when it comes to the draft, you just have to get TALENT. That's all it is about. Why take the chance on a shittier player who is less likely to pan out when you have a blue chip, star in the making WR sitting right there for the taking?

I am pretty sure the Giants, Bills, Buccanneers and Panthers were all pretty happy with the wide receivers they picked in the first round last year.

Ohh and Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant, Antonio Brown, Jordy Nelson, Kelvin Benjamin, A.J Green and Demaryius Thomas were all in the playoffs last year...

Gronkowski is pretty much a WR and he was there too.

You know who wasn't? J.J Watt, Justin Houston, Mario Williams, Robert Quinn, Connor Barwin, Ryan Kerrigan.

We could play this game all day.

steelers 2006
packers 2002
Ravens 2005
pats 1996
the best franchises in the NFL and the last year the spent a 1st round pick on a WR
we can throw Seahawks in there to at 2001, just for shits and giggles

so yeah we could play this game all day.

I would take JJ Watt over a combination of any two WRs you mentioned all day every day.

Point? Those franchises have for the most part had great receivers...whether they spent a first round pick to get one is irrelevant.

You are a meatball.

Like not even a good italian meatball in a nice bolognese sauce.

Just a ball of raw meat.

With the new moves, how about me, you, and kangaroofucker have a mock draft champ do-over.

If you win, you reclaim King of the mocks status.

If I win, I want you to post my mock on the front page of CCS because you have the writer symbol.

If kangaroofucker wins, he'll still be a kangaroofucker, so let's not even consider him as a possibility.

#GAMEFACE

only if windy promises to stop using the players i pick before adding them to his his new mocks

idk if its cooper that i dont buy into, but for me its would be more of a alabama perception - full of nfl busts lately.. at least on the d for sure.

there have been cj mosley, julio jones and ehh eddy lacy though.

Its just when i watch him i dont see anything special with him. He doesnt run like Watkins, Cook or Becham. He isnt tall like Benjamin or Evans. Isnt a jump ball, acrobatic receiver. He isnt even that explosive when the ball is in his hands.

White i can see it but not Cooper.

That's just it. He makes everything look easy. He just does his job, but to say he isn't explosive isn't true. He reminds me of Marvin Harrison. He changes gears nicely and often times leaves his corner in the dust.

Thats actually a good comparison. He is just extremely smooth runner and a reliable target. He has the ability to get open and find soft spots for the QB to throw to. Yes he not white. He is not the big guy who can just go up and get it and make the CB his bitch. He will help your team go down the field and score. He has an ability to manipulate the corner rather than over power him even though at 6'1 he still very good size

Awfully small sample you're pulling from... the year before, the Broncos were in the Super Bowl. They had a legit #1 WR...

And:

1. They were destroyed in the SB.

2. Where they there because of that 'legit #1' or the fact that they had arguably the greatest quarterback to ever play the game at the helm?

It's very simple - dominant pass rushers change games. A dominant pass rusher is the second most important player on the field after a great QB.

Top tier WR are fun to watch and make for great fantasy numbers, but the reality, in today's NFL, is that they just aren't the difference between a team having post season success or not. Megatron, Andre Johnson, Antonio Brown, AG Green, Josh Gordon, Brandon Marshall, Fitz. I would say that over the last 10 years or so, those have been the best WR in NFL. None of them have a ring. Some of them have never won a playoff game, let alone played in one.

The nice part of these moves is that it really does open up the draft a lot at the top end.

The Bears could use a true difference making pass rusher, but they have enough guys at the position.

The Bears could use a 5 technique, but they have guys who can play and they could add a 2nd-3rd round pick to compete and develop.

The Bears could use a safety, but this draft sucks.

With the number of defensive needs that were addressed today I think the possibility of WR went up as well.

Plus the moves should not have really impacted our salary cap much since only the top 51 contracts are counted. Really, just Foster's contract will go against the cap. We should still have over $10 million left, maybe more, depending on what the contract numbers look like.
