lol dude youre arguing with the wrong guy about noah. I pointed out the points because most on here seem to only care about his scoring or lack thereof. trust me, he has had a few other games that were better I agree. I value those contributions heavily and that's why id like to see his minutes go from the 22 range to the 27-28min range. that's the appropriate minutes for the level of play he has provided us. im fine with portis getting a look, but eventually the FO is going to have to make a move in our crowded frontcourt. theres simply not enough minutes to go around currently

I'm cool with making a move. But I am still a believer that we need to see all 5 of our bigs play every night until that trade comes.

Again, there's not one single basketball skill that Niko is better at than Bobby. Not one.
I will claim that Niko is the better free throw shooter lol

First of all, you're cherry picking one game. And you're basing it primarily on the scoring game he had. How about he has had more blocks, rebounds, and assists all on multiple other ocassions despite playing less minutes

Cherry picking ONE GAME is what this entire thread is all about.

It's actually not. People have been high on bobby since college. This thread is more about people projecting bobby from college and what we've seen in summer league and pre season and what we already know of niko having watched him for almost a season and a half. It has nothing to do with one game lol although the one game certainly doesn't hurt Bobby's stock that's for sure.

I like Portis. I like everything I have seen except his body doesn't play nearly as long as Niko. He has a long neck, and his effectual height is similar to some 6'7 guys. He is a nice stretch 4 to me in the Green of Golden state mold. You need to remember I am sky high in Nikos ability and physical attributes, Niko is as long at the shoulder and long arms, as most 7 footers. He has an extremely high basketball IQ and came out trying to do too much. The system and his decisions are a little off, but to me he is a hell of a talent. I think we disagree more on Niko, than on Portis. I'm just fine with Portis getting stronger and learning on the bench for 3/4 of a rookie season. And I view Niko still on top 5 pick talent like many GMs do.

Niko will probably be the better percent 3 point shooter one day, he is a pure shooter like only a dozen guys in the league are capable of.

Fine but what do we have to go off? College, SL, and pre-season. It's about projecting his skill set/strengths/weaknesses. You can't just doubt a rookie who never played because they never played. If wiggins tore it up in SL and pre season and then just didn't play in the regular season would people say "hey, slow down. This guy never played. Don't get excited." He's probably our most well rounded big man when you take offense and defense into account. And I would still love to hear a skill that niko is better at.

I get where you are coming from. im just saying everyone needs to ease off the bobby portis bandwagon just a bit till we see him on a consistent basis. fans have a habit of seeing a young guy have a good pre season and then a good reg season game or two and automatically thinking he is a future all star or some crap. last year that was Niko everyone was googly eyed over thinking he was the next dirk or anything close to it. you may have been one of them even, I don't know. im not saying portis cant be a good player, just not ready to say he will be either. remember when snell dominated some pre season action and everyone thought he was going to go off like butler did the previous year? how has he looked since then?

What you're saying is fair but I read it as basically "Portis is unproven. No one knows if he's going to be good." And yes, that would be correct. However, part of being a fan of basketball is projecting young players, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and analyzing their skill sets. I'm not saying Bobby is going to be a 5x all-star, but he's going to be a very, very good player and I wouldn't count out all-star appearances for him. Whereas Niko, I would be shocked if he ever made one.

I was never as high on Niko than a lot of other people. I certainly never saw him anywhere near a Dirk Nowitzki. The thing that troubles me about Niko is when I look at his game, I don't see one dominant or eye popping skill set. He shoots a decent percentage, is a respectable rebounder, decent defender, ok ball handler, not a great driver with the ball, and relatively soft. I just don't see anything he does very well. He's pretty good at a lot of things, and lacks that one "strength" you want to see.

As far as Snell goes, he never really "dominated" pre-season and he's another guy that just didn't jump out at you. He was always a spot up shooter with a decent ability to put the ball down, but lacks the fortitude. In short, I never saw anything from Tony Snell to get me overly excited. Your point is basically "Bobby is unproven and other guys have been a let down after fans were high on them." To that, I can't argue. I could only explain why I'm high on him and the rest will take care of itself.

Trade away Niko. BOOM. You got 20mpg.

I'm not opposed to trading Niko if it brought back the right player but it won't. Niko certainly hasn't raised his stock this year and any deal involving him will most likely involve us getting ripped off or end up being a lateral move at best. Unless we packaged him in a larger deal for someone like Cousins, which I would certainly do.

Well, bringing back value, leaves no minutes for Bobby, unless its a multiplayer deal. Gasol and Niko for something for example.

Well if the value is a backcourt player then I don't see how that impacts Bobby's minutes.

Yep. That's one scenario for sure.

A back court player/wing player wouldn't interfere with Bobby getting minutes. Niko's value can't be very high right now and he's still signed to a cheap deal for another 2 years, I believe. You trade him in the right deal, but you don't trade him to just open up minutes for Bobby. If that's the route you're looking for, Gasol and/or Taj should be the ones to go. Gasol should be THE guy we look to trade this season, IMO. Been saying it since the off-season.

I've been open to trading Taj for a few seasons now, but after 25 games I'm finally on the trade Pau train as well. Idk who'd have interest in him though.

Taj's value is in the toilet. He's a middling PF and they're a dime a dozen in the league. I'm not sure who would be interested in Gasol but I'm fairly certain there would be at least a few teams with serious interest.

Sadly we wasted Taj's prime playing him behind Boozer. But at the same time, the depth he gave us at the time was thought to be important. Woulda coulda shoulda
