Maybe I'm also in the minority, but I felt like the battle against the NK and the dead would run until the final episode with almost everyone dying throughout the last few episodes.
I didnt think so. I thought there was to much to play out with the Iron Throne. Also, they couldnt keep fighting that army. They knew the only chance they had was to kill the NK. The dead dont rest. They destroy kingdoms like a Nazi blitzkrieg and move on. Lengthening the battle would have been really bad IMO. They had a window to get it done. I thought it was perfect. The fight was never going to go into the next day or everyone would be dead. It was kill the NK or bust.

I knew when they announced the 6 episode final season that we'd be in for an epic rush job. Last night proved that. A big part of the show was "Winter Is Coming" yet there was no payoff to that. We know nothing about the NK, total letdown in that regard.

Not sure anyone else thought this, but I kind of got the vibe that based on their conversations with each other all show long that when Sansa brought out the dagger behind a crypt that her and Tyrion were going to have a Romeo and Juliet ending.
I thought that; I turned to my wife and said you think they will do it

The battle was longer than any lotr battle so maybe it was too dark but part of that is money other part is just making it as realistic as possible

As far as the story of the night king I agree they botched that. His smile after Dany tried to burn him was my fav part of the episode

You have complained about everything in this show. Maybe you should watch something else

55 days of shooting. 15 millions dollars and a longer battle than LOTR like you said. I believe the darkness was for a real feeling. That is how it would be if you were there. I think they were really trying to push the elements they were fighting in.

You felt the pressure after the Dothraki were annihilated. You get that feel of hope when she gives them the flame swords then you get that feel of shitting yourself when riderless horses come back and the lights go out. I thought they did an excellent job with that

A big WTF moment I'd have to mention from this episode was when Jon stood up and looked ice dragon in the face and screamed at him. WTF? Couldn't the dragon just breathe fire on him at that moment. Then, as luck would have it, NK falls and thus does the dragon before it thinks of spitting fire on Jon.

Made for TV dramatic effect bullshit.

I'll be that guy. I thought this episode was just ok. All of the major characters survive and I still have no idea why the NK was after Bran. Maybe they explained it and I missed it. I need answers.

Because Bran is the 3 eyed Raven. Pretty **** dumb plan in the end. NK didn't even fight anyone. Utterly underwhelming ***** of a villain. And it seems we will get no more story of his character or motivations.

I suppose we should have realized this as he is not in the books as imagined here and the writers always struggle when they stray from the books. In the end, he was a hollow character with no substance.

You have to understand something: the poster you're discussing here is a simpleton.

All the prophesies and lore didn’t mean shit other than that we got the action we wanted. To me from book 1/season 1 to present the stuff I was interested in was the magic world of got. And now it took one episode in season 8 to make this a show more about politics than the magic world lol

Yep, the show has lost its mystery and magic and went for cheap thrills more akin to a summer blockbuster movie.

Anyone else noticed Arya move on NK was the almost the same as her sparring session with Brienne of Tarth?

It's a Muay Thai "superman punch", start with one leg extended and kick it back to generate torque which results in arm momentum and power on the opposite body side of the leg.

On the bright side, the highlight of the show for me was Lady Mormont and Theon. Fitting ends to both characters.

Don't forget Jamie's redemption arc, now that Theon's is complete.

Nah **** Jamie. Theon actually died defending one of the people he wronged. Jamie just has plot armor along with a few other characters. Sam for example look like he was just sunbathing with a few of the undead towards the end there.

Oh I forgot to give Grey Worm props as well. Although it is funny that in a battle in Winterfell, it was Dany's Dothraki and Unsullied that took the brunt of the Night King's attack. Hopefully, these dumb ass Northerners will respect the sacrifices made for them. Would be funny though if Jon be like, "Yeah I let your army lead the charge because I am Aegeon ***** and now you got have much of an army left."

Yea...when Sansa was complaining abt Dany, I was like "at least she's out fighting and not hiding in the crypts". Granted, she used Lord Friendzone as a shield but she was still out on the battlefield.

But yeah...I'm slightly disappointed that this is how they end the NK's story. I just wanted more background on him. Why did he start marching down when he did? What were his plans afterwards?
